Day 77: Deuteronomy 21-23

Father God, again, we see your fairness and your faithfulness. You don't tolerate favoritism, but expect us to treat each other with respect. You established marriage and it is sacred, not to be entered into lightly, and not to be dissolved on a whim. You ask us to look out for each other, and not to turn away or try to avoid an opportunity to lend a helping hand. And you expect us to keep our word, just as your Word is forever settled in heaven. Your laws are just, because they are based in love and respect. Help us to love each other as you have loved us. Amen.

Father God, thank you for revealing your heart to us through your Word. We see that you are a just God, exacting punishment in like kind with the crime that was committed. Your Word says that you have made us kings and priests, so we study your Word daily, Father, just as you instructed the kings of Israel to do. Open our minds and our hearts and give us wisdom to understand your Word and to apply it to our daily lives. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Father God, Thank you for choosing us, from before time began, to be set apart and adopted into your family and sons and daughters. Thank you for the gift of the tithe, that helps us remember that you alone are our Jehovah Jireh, our Provider. Thank you for your blessings, Father. You have blessed us abundantly. You are a giver, and when we give, it pleases you. Thank you for blessing us in all of our work, and in everything we put our hands to. We are blessed so that we can bless others. In you, we are altogether joyful. Thank you, Father.  Amen.

Father God, Just as the Children of Israel were warned about deception, and about the influence of others, we know we need to be on guard today. While we still have to live in the world, we know how important it is to make sure our environment is Godly, and that we surround ourselves with other believers. We live in the world, but are not of the world. Give us discernment, Father, so we are not deceived and led astray. May we hear your voice, and do what is right in your eyes. In Jesus' name we pray.  Amen.

Father God, thank you for your Word. And, thank you for Moses, Father, and for the wisdom he shared with us. Thank you for all the blessings you pour out on us. Thank you for giving us the power to gain wealth so that we can establish your Kingdom here in the earth. Thank you for making us righteous in Christ Jesus. We bless your name, Father. Help us to walk in all your ways, and to serve you with all our heart and all our soul. You are the God of gods and the Lord of lords. You are our praise and our God.  Amen.

Father God, Your commandments weren't given to restrict us, but rather that we might prolong our lives. Your love is amazing. We didn't choose you, Father, you chose us. Even while we were yet sinners, even when we had nothing to offer you in return. You chose us, because you love us. And you pour out your blessings on us beyond measure. You are a great and awesome God. Help us to love you completely, with all of our heart, our soul and our might, withholding nothing from you. In the mighty name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

We have nothing to fear because you yourself fight our battles for us. Help us to keep our souls diligently and to never forget all that you have done for us and continue to do for us each day. Father God, thank you for your Word, and thank you for revealing your heart and character to us through it. Even though our Words are powerful, we see that we cannot curse another. The Children of Israel said that they and their children would die in the wilderness. And all the adults 20 years and older died, except for Caleb and Joshua. But all those under the age of 20 lived to inherit the promised land. Help us, Father, to guard our mouths. And to speak words of life and not death. And to bless others as you have blessed us. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

Today on Meditating the Word, we finish the book of Numbers. Towns are established for the Levites as well as cities of refuge and the inheritance of Zelophehad's daughters is clarified.

Father God, you claimed the Levites as your own, and you took care of them. Because their work was to serve you, and they couldn't earn wages and purchase land, and houses and possessions as the other Israelites could. you made provision for them. You still take care of those who serve you today, Father. You are Jehovah Jireh, our provider. And you take pleasure in taking care of us and providing for our needs. Because you are our shepherd, we lack nothing. Thank you, Father. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Father God, May we learn from the Children of Israel to trust you. To put all of our faith in you and you alone. No matter how small and insignificant and weak we think we are. We can't accomplish much in our own strength anyway. Because of their failure to trust in you, and because they compared themselves to others, they wandered for 40 years in the wilderness instead of entering the promised land. You had already promised them victory. Father, help us to know that your promises are true. They never fail. We put our faith in you and your strength. In Jesus' name, Amen.
