Day 127: 2nd Samuel 6-7, 1st Chronicles 17

Today on Meditating the Word, the Ark is brought to Jerusalem, God's makes a Covenant with David, and David Prays to God

Father God, there is blessing from being in your presence. It was true in David's time when you presence was in the ark of the covenent, and it's true today when your presence is with us and in us. Help us, Father, to remain always in your presence; to remain in you as you remain in us. Help us to worship you with abandon as David did. Leaping and dancing, undignified and worthless in our own sight, we celebrate before you, Father. For you are worthy of all of our praise. Amen

Your loving kindness endures forever and you have been and will be faithful throughout all generations. Thank you, Father. Amen

You have provided complete salvation -- body, soul and spirit. There is nothing left for you to do. You have already provided everything we need for life and godliness. We could never repay you. And we can never thank you enough. So we will never stop praising you. Amen

Day 124: 1st Chronicles 13-16

Today on Meditating the Word, the Ark is brought from Kiriath-Jearim and left with Obed-Edom, David is established in Jerusalem, the Philistines are defeated, the Ark is brought to Jerusalem and placed in the tent prepared for it, David sings a song of thanksgiving, and regular worship is established.
This is Day 123. We are reading from the 1st Book of Chronicles 13-16.

Father God, what a glorious celebration that must have been, bringing the Ark of the Covenant, your very presence, back to the city. Once again, David showed his heart by singing and dancing with abandon out of the pure joy of worshiping you. May we worship you with the same love and abandon, not caring what others might think, because our worship is between us and you alone. And may we never forget how blessed we are that your spirit now resides, not in an Ark in a tabernacle somewhere, but in us. We are never without your presence. Thank you Father, Amen

Father God, we long for this unity. You placed the desire within us not only for unity with each other, but for unity with you. There is an anointing on unified relationships... a full covering from head to foot. And in that unity, we find your blessing. Help us to reject anything that might come between us, Father. Day 121: 2 Samuel 5, 1 Chronicles 11-12

Today on Meditating the Word, David is anointed King of all Israel, Jerusalem is made capital of the Kingdom, the Philistines attack and are defeated; we read about David's Mighty Men, his followers in the wilderness and his army at Hebron.
This is Day 121. Today we are reading from the 2nd Book of Samuel chapter 5 and the 1st Book of Chronicles chapters 11 and 12
----Father God, One of the big lessons we learn from David is that of patience. He was anointed when he was still a boy tending his father's sheep. But he patiently waited. He respected your anointing on King Saul, and would not rise against him. Sometimes it's hard to be patient. We want things now, in our own timing. But we recognize, Father, that you have to work through people, and sometimes -- especially when they are disobedient or are slow to obey, it affects others as well. So help us, Father, not only to be patient, but to also respond quickly to you and be obedient so we don't delay someone else's good. Thank you, Father, for showing us patience and mercy.  Amen

Father God, such a lesson on where we get our information! Saul looked to other sources... his own counsel, and the counsel of a medium, instead of relying only on you. We see people -- even Christians -- do the same today, relying on their own wisdom, or on their daily horoscope, or consulting psychics, when we have the very best sources of information available to us! Your written Word, and Holy Spirit within who will teach us all things and even show us things to come. Help us not to be seduced and led astray by deception Father, but to rely only on you.  Amen
