This is Day 284. Today we are reading Matthew 9 and Luke 7----
Father God, so many lessons from the life and ministry of Jesus... if we will only apply them. Salvation that is available even to the worst of us. We are the ones You came to save. And the importance of faith... You can't force salvation or healing or blessings on us. You have offered them freely, but we have to accept them by faith. And we must protect that faith, even if it means sending family and friends away when they doubt. You generously give us Your righteousness in exchange for our filthy rags, blessings in exchange for curses, eternal life in exchange for death. Thank You, Father.  Amen

This is Day 283. Today we are reading Matthew 5-7----
Father God, We couldn't even keep the law of the Old Testament. And when Jesus came, He raised the bar. Where murder was wrong under the law, He tells us to not be angry. Where adultery was wrong under the law, He tells us to not even have lust in our heart. The law and the prophets were distilled down to two things: Love You with all of our heart, mind and soul, and love our neighbors as ourselves. But, not just the friendly neighbors -- even those who hate us. We can't do it in our own power, but with You all things are possible, and where we fail, Your grace steps in. Thank You for Your grace, Your mercy and Your forgiveness. Amen

This is Day 282. Today we are reading Matthew 12, Mark 3 and Luke 6----
Father God, help us to be doers of Your Word and not hearers only. We plant the seeds of Your Word deep without our hearts, laying a firm foundation for our lives. And though the storms still come, we are not shaken, but can withstand them because we are firmly rooted in Your Word. We fill our hearts with Your Word, and it is out of that abundance that we speak and from that foundation that the circumstances of our lives flow. We give generously, expecting nothing in return. We are merciful and give the gift of forgiveness, not condemnation, the gift that frees not only others, but also sets us free. Thank You, Father, for Your Word and the mighty power in it -- just as powerful and sure today as when Jesus spoke it thousands of years ago. Amen

Father God, what an amazing chapter from John! How we love Your Word and the ability to learn more about Jesus, his life and his teachings. Father, as Jesus showed us through the example of his life, may we also do Your work. And we can't do it on our own, in our own strength and abilities. We can only do it through the power of Holy Spirit within us. Help us, Father, to be about Your work, to do only what Jesus did, because he is the exact image of You. Thank You for eternal life. Thank You for Your living Word in us. Thank You for Your love that fills us to overflowing. We set our hope on Jesus, Your Word made flesh. Thank You, Father.  Amen

Father God, You are God of all! And it's amazing that through Jesus, You have given us the authority to speak in His name. The same authority He used to cast out demons, to heal the sick, to calm the seas... is available in Him to operate through us. Not as we will, but as You will, Father. So guide us. Open our eyes to the opportunities You place before us to do Your will, to be the hands and feet of Jesus in the earth. In Christ we have been made new, we are new creations, and You have filled us with new wine -- Holy Spirit. May we be willing vessels. Flow through us Father, to establish Your kingdom here on earth as it is in heaven. Amen

Father God, thank You for the Gospel of John and the accounts of Jesus' miracles -- so rich with symbolism. Thank You for the baptism of Holy Spirit so that we can worship You in Spirit and in Truth. Father, help us to be more like the Samaritans and believe You at Your Word rather than seeking signs and miracles. You have spoken Your will and Your promises over us through Your Word. All You ask is that we believe that Your Word is true so that we can receive everything You have already provided, richly, abundantly for us. Amen

Today on Meditating the Word: Jesus is tested in the wilderness, Jesus begins to preach, Jesus calls his first disciples, Jesus heals the sick; Jesus is rejected at Nazareth, Jesus drives out an impure spirit, Jesus heals the man with leprosy, Jesus forgives and heals a paralyzed man, Jesus calls Levi and eats with sinners, Jesus is questioned about fasting.
This is Day 278. Today we are reading Matthew 4 and Luke 4-5----
Father God, in reading about the temptation of Jesus in the wilderness, we see that he faced the same temptation that we face today... A question of identity. If you are the son of God. The enemy attacks us by trying to make us doubt who we are in Christ. And You have given us the same weapons that Jesus used to defeat the enemy... Authority and Your Word. When the enemy came at Jesus, he responded with the Word. And he spoke with authority. Help us to do the same Father. Part of the purpose for reading Your Word is to equip ourselves with weapons, with Your Words, so that whenever we face an attack, or a doubt, or a fear, we can speak Your Word with Authority and quench every fiery dart of the wicked. Thank You, Father, that You have not left us defenseless. Thank You for Your Word. Amen

We can trace our lineage, from Adam the first created Son of God through Jesus, the first born of many brethren. In Him, we have been adopted into Your family. We have been recreated. Created originally in Your image, but born into sin, we have not been made new creatures in Christ Jesus. Thank You for loving us. Thank You for accepting us. Thank You for not giving up on us, but for making a way for us. Thank You for making us worthy. Amen

Father God, how amazing Your Word is! How can anyone doubt that You exist, and that Jesus is the Savior! Over thousands of years, prophecies were made that were all fulfilled in Him. Born in Bethlehem to a virgin; the kings from the East with their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh; You calling your Son out of Egypt; Herod's murder of the male children in Bethlehem; Jesus being raised in Nazareth... The odds against all of these prophecies being fulfilled by one person are staggering. How could anyone doubt Your Word? And if the prophecies were true, then Your promises must also be true. Thank You, Father, for the gift of salvation -- not just in the hereafter, but also in the here and now. Amen

This is Day 275. Today we are reading Matthew 1 and Luke 2----
Father God, the faithfulness of Mary and Joseph. As we read the Old Testament, we heard all of the prophecies, all of the Word seeds that had to be planted to create Jesus in the womb of Mary. There is a responsibility that comes with being a parent, but we can't even begin to comprehend the great responsibility of raising Jesus, the Christ, the Savior of the world. What a celebration there must have been in heaven, when all of the heavenly host finally saw the prophecies being fulfilled. The plan from the foundation of the world, taking place before them. The child, Jesus, growing in wisdom and stature and in favor. From a child, he was about Your business. Help us, Father, to also grow in wisdom and in favor and to be about Your Kingdom Business here on earth. Amen
