Father God, Thank you for your Word. The account of Abraham and Isaac, with all of its rich symbolism, and the types and shadows of our coming Savior... No one could have made this up. Thank you for choosing Abraham, a man who would be faithful to you -- even to offer up his only son, to make way for you to offer your only son for us. He trusted you so completely, that he believed you would raise Isaac from the dead if he sacrificed him, and that they would return back down the mountain together. Oh, Father, that our faith could be that strong, that sure. Help us to trust you more, Father. Amen

Father God, We are so thankful for your Word, and for all that it teaches us about life and how to live it in a way that pleases you. Thank you for showing us your heart through your Word. You are so merciful, and don't want anyone lost. Even when it was necessary to destroy the evil in Sodom and Gomorrah, you would do anything until Lot had reached safety. And even though we fail you time and time again, you are always and forever faithful. Thank you, Father. Amen

Father God, How we love our father of faith, Abraham, who stepped out in faith, not knowing where you would lead him, at your word. You are our Maker, and yet, you are concerned with the details of our lives. You have given us the Bible, with its books of wisdom, to guide us through this life. You are so good to us Father. Open our ears so we can hear, and our eyes of understanding of this owner's manual you have given us, so that we can walk in the fullness of your covenant.

Father God, thank you for your Word. Thank you for the example of Job's life and his faithfulness. Oh that we could live a life as outstanding as his, and be eyes to the blind, feet to the lame, father to the needy. Although he was wealthy, his confidence wasn't in his gold or riches, but in you alone, Father. And thank you for the New Covenant based on even better promises. How amazing it is to not have to ever wonder if we are good enough, or make our case before you by reciting our good deeds. Because our righteousness isn't in us or in our good deeds, but in Christ alone. You are so good to us. Thank you Father. Amen.
