Monday Dec 11, 2023
Monday Dec 11, 2023
Today on Meditating the Word: The Weak and the Strong, Paul the Minister to the Gentiles, Paul's Plan to Visit Rome, Personal Greetings.
This is Day 345. We are reading Romans 14-16----
Father God, help us to be more aware of those around us and of the subtle influence our lives can have on them. May Holy Spirit guide us when our actions might be a stumbling block to others, to make different choices. May we always seek opportunities to build up others and to encourage them in the faith. Thank You that the mysteries of prophecy have been made known to us, and that we have been accepted into Your Kingdom, into Your family... engrafted, adopted as sons and daughters through faith. Thank You that it is Your peace that conquers the enemy, not our own strength. Help us to rest daily in that peace. Amen

Father God, we are grateful for the Jewish people, Your chosen ones, through whom our redemption came. Your covenant was with them, and through them, through Jesus, we have been grafted in to receive the blessings of Abraham. We present ourselves to You, Father, as a living sacrifice, made holy through Christ Jesus. Our spirits were renewed when we accepted Jesus as Lord, and now we work steadfastly at renewing our minds, not conforming ot the world and its system. We know that the only way to overcome evil is with good. So we set our intention to do what is right and to love as You love. Amen

Today on Meditating the Word: Life Through the Spirit, Present Suffering and Future Glory, More Than Conquerors, Anguish Over Israel, God's Mercy, Israel's Unbelief.
This is Day 343. We are reading Romans 8-10----
Father God, thank You for Holy Spirit who dwells in us. I think we forget that the same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead, is the Spirit that lives in us. That same life-giving power. He lives in us and through us, giving supernatural life and health to our mortal bodies. He intercedes for us, giving us the tongues of angels when we don't know the words to speak. Through You, through Holy Spirit, and through the sacrifice of Jesus, we are more than conquerors. Thank You that nothing can separate us from Your love. Amen

Friday Dec 08, 2023
Friday Dec 08, 2023
Today on Meditating the Word: Abraham Justified by Faith, Peace and Hope, Death Through Adam, Life Through Christ, Dead to Sin, Alive in Christ, Slaves to Righteousness, Released From the Law, Bound to Christ, the Law and Sin.
This is Day 342. We are reading Romans 4-7----
Father God, certainly, the spirit is willing but our flesh is weak. If there is one thing we have proven over and over again, it's that we can't keep Your law, Your commandments in our own strength. Thank You, Father, that You made another way for us. Thank You that we are no longer under the law but under grace. Not that it gives us an excuse to sin. But it covers our sins when we miss the mark. Thank You for Grace and Eternal Life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Day 341: Romans 1-3
Thursday Dec 07, 2023
Thursday Dec 07, 2023
Today on Meditating the Word: Paul's Longing to Visit Rome, God's Wrath, God's Righteous Judgment, the Jews and the Law, God's Faithfulness, No One is Righteous, Righteousness Through Faith.
This is Day 341. We are reading Romans 1-3----
Father God, it is so easy to fall under the law, thinking we can earn our salvation. But scripture makes it clear that all have fallen short. All have sinned. No one is capable of keeping the whole of the law. And, if we break one commandment, scripture says we are guilty of breaking the whole law. Thank You, Father, for Your grace. Thank You for the righteousness we have through faith in Jesus and in his sacrifice to reconcile us. Remind us, Father, that we walk and we live by faith. Amen

This is Day 340. We are reading 2nd Corinthians 10-13
----
Father God, help us to remember as the Apostle Paul wrote, we do not fight against flesh and blood, and we do not fight with earthly weapons, but with spiritual. Weapons You have provided through Your world that are powerful enough to demolish even the most fortified strongholds of thought within us. Father, we cast down every thought that comes to our minds that goes against Your Word -- no matter where or who those thoughts came from; whether they are from people around us, from society, from the enemy, and especially our own thoughts. We cast them down and replace them with what Your Word says. Thank You, Father, that Your grace is sufficient for us. Thank you that we don't have to rely on our own strength, and that in our weakness, You are strong. Amen

Father God, thank You for the Apostle Paul and for his letters to the early church. There is so much in these four chapters! Thank You that ALL of Your promises are Yes and the Amen -- or So Be It -- is found in You. The fulfilment of the promises isn't dependent on us. You have already made provision for every promise. Thank You that our sufficiency is from You. Thank You that the veil was torn and we can now approach You face-to-face. Thank You for the treasure of the power Holy Spirit in us that enables us to not be crushed or destroyed. Thank You for the life that works in us. Help us to keep our focus not on the things we see which are temporary, but to keep our focus on the things that are unseen which are eternal. Amen

Today on Meditating the Word: The Resurrection of Christ, The Resurrection of the Dead, The Resurrection Body.

----
Jesus will return! Thank You that Jesus has conquered death and the grave. Death has no sting for the believer. It has no victory. The victory is in Christ Jesus. Until his return, we will watch, standing firm in the faith. We will courageously and boldly spread the good news of the Gospel -- both in person in our own sphere of influence, and through financial support of those carrying the messages beyond our circle. But, not just in word, Father. We will show others Your love and Your mercy and Your grace by doing all that we do in love. Amen

Today on Meditating the Word: Spiritual Gifts, Unity and Diversity in the Body, Love is Most Important, Tongues and Interpretation in Church, Order in Worship.
This is Day 336. We are reading 1st Corinthians 12-14
----
Father God, thank You for the gifts of Holy Spirit, and for those who allow the gifts to flow through them to build up the members of the body of Christ. We thank You that each of us has a place in Your Kingdom and in the body of Christ. We don't envy the gifts or roles of another, but know that You have given the gifts as You desire, and as they will best benefit the whole. The gifts aren't ours, they are Yours, they only flow through us as we are willing vessles. We earnestly seek those gifts, but more than anything, Father, we seek to love as You love. We seek to be patient and kind, not to envy, brag or boast. We don't seek to have our own way, and we aren't provoked to anger. We rejoice in the truth. We bear all things, believe in all things, hope in all things and we endure all things through the power of love. And Your love never fails. Amen
