Father God, thank You for Your justice, that each of us is responsible for our own acts and decisions. And thank You for Your mercy, that when we do wrong, all we have to do is repent. You have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but wish that everyone would turn to You and be saved. We turn to You, Father. We transform ourselves through Your Word. You are the Lord who sanctifies us. Thank You, Father. Amen----

Father God, though we were deep in sin, you spoke to us "Live!" You spread Your righteousness over us and covered our sin. You pledged Yourself to us and entered into a covenant with us. And we became Yours. You have put Your majesty on us and prospered us. Forgive us, Father, for the times we have trusted in ourselves thinking we had somehow earned Your favor. Thank You for Your unmerited favor. Help us to always walk in Your ways and to give You all the glory. Amen----

Father God, even when we turn away from You, You are still here, waiting, asking us to return. Like the father who watched and waited for his son to return. And like him, You run to meet us. You embrace us. And You forgive us for all of our sins and failures and short comings as if they never happened. Thank You for Your great love and mercy, Father. Amen

Father God, we seek You and ask that You take our stony hearts out of our flesh and give us hearts of flesh... pliable, moldable, teachable, so that we will walk in Your ways. We submit ourselves to You as a living sacrifice. We are Your people and You are our God. Give us one heart and fill us with Your spirit. Amen

Father God, silver and gold can't deliver us. Help us to focus on You and Your Kingdom. Nothing of this world can ever satisfy us. Forgive us for putting our trust in people, jobs, the government... When You alone are our source. We turn to You, Father. We lay ourselves down at Your feet in reverence and worship. Nothing and no one else deserves our devotion. Only You. Amen

Day 239: Ezekiel 1-4

Today on Meditating the Word, we read Ezekiel's vision of God's glory, Ezekiel is called to be a prophet, he is given the task of watchman and the seige of Jerusalem is symbolized.
This is Day 239. Today we are reading Ezekiel 1-4----
Father God, thank You for Your Word, and for the book of Ezekiel. The visions he saw, of Your glory, made him fall to the ground, face down, in awe and worship. Father, we also fall before You in awe, and we worship You. We read and study and listen to Your Word diligently. We know it is Spirit-breathed. As Ezekiel ate the scroll, so too, Father, we ingest Your Word, we fill ourselves with it day after day, so that we, too, can stand firm and upright no matter what happens around us... though we are amonth riers and thorns and dwell among scorpions, we won't be afraid of the words of others or dismayed by their looks. Our hope and our strength is in You. Amen

Father God, these are hard lessons. The price Israel and Judah paid for their disobedience, their transgressions, for turning away from You, are painful to read. Yet, we know You sent messengers, Your prophets to warn them so that they could turn from their ways and return into covenant relationship with You. And we are grateful, Father, for the new and better covenant that we have through Jesus. Thankful that we are saved by grace and not by our own efforts to keep the 613 commandments of Jewish law. Help us to remain faithful to You, Father, not putting anyone or anything above You. Help us to love You with all our heart, with all our mind and with all our soul. Amen.
