Episode 372: Micah

Today's Prayer Meditation is on the book of Micah.
I do what is right, and your words comfort me. 
You drew me to yourself. Bringing me back like a sheep in its pasture. You let me out of bondage and you guide me. You are my king. 
You have filled me with the power of your Spirit. I am filled with justice and strength to boldly declare the truth. I depend on you.
I go up to your holy mountain. There you teach me your ways and I walk in your paths. You mediate between peoples and settle disputes. We hammer our swords into plowshares and our spears into pruning hooks. We no longer fight against each other or train for war. 
I live in peace and prosperity, and there is nothing to fear. You are the God of Angel Armies and you have promised me peace. I will follow you forever and ever. 
You drew me to yourself. You are my king forever. 
You rescued me and redeemed me from the grip of the enemy. 
Though Bethlehem was only a small village among all the people of Judah, you raised up a ruler there. His origins were in the distant past. He came on your behalf.
He stood to lead his flock with your strength and in your majesty, Father. His name is Jesus, the Messiah, Emmanuel, God with us. He is highly honored. He is the source of peace. 
And now no one can hold your people back. You have made me like a lion among the animals of the forest, like a strong young lion among the flocks of sheep and goats. You enable me to stand strong and fearless against the enemy. 
You have told me what is good, and this is what you require of me: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with my God.
As for me, I look to you alone for help. I wait confidently for you, and you certainly hear me. Though I fall, I will rise again. Though I sit in darkness, you are my light. 
You bring me into the light, and I see your righteousness. Everyone can see that you are on my side. 
You have rebuilt my life and extended my borders. You have given me honor. 
You protect me with your shepherd’s staff; you lead me. I graze in fertile pastures. You do mighty miracles for me. Those who have seen what you have done stand amazed. 
There is no other God like you, who pardons guilt and overlooks sin. You delight in showing unfailing love. You have compassion on me. 
You have trampled my sins under your feet and thrown them into the depths of the ocean. You have shown me your faithfulness and unfailing love as you promised long ago.
So be it.

Episode 371: Jonah

Today's Prayer Meditation is on the book of Jonah
I cried out to you in my great trouble, Father, and you answered me. I called to you from the land of the dead, and you heard me. I sank down to the heart of the sea.The mighty waters engulfed me; I was buried beneath the wild and stormy waves. But I turned my face toward you. 
I sank beneath the waves, and the waters closed over me. Seaweed wrapped itself around my head. I sank down to the very roots of the mountains. I was imprisoned in the earth, whose gates lock shut forever.
But you, Father, snatched me from the jaws of death. As my life was slipping away, I turned my face to you. My earnest prayer went out to you.
I offer my life as a living sacrifice with songs of praise, and I will fulfill all my vows. For my salvation comes from you alone.
You are a merciful and compassionate God, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. You showed mercy to me when I was living in spiritual darkness. You sent a savior. You have redeemed me.
So be it.

Episode 370: Amos

Today's prayer meditation is on the book of Amos
Two people cannot walk together without agreeing on the direction.A lion doesn't roar in the thicket without first finding a victim.A young lion doesn't growl in its den without first catching its prey.A bird doesn't get caught in a trap that has no bait.A trap doesn't spring shut when there is nothing to catch.When the ram's horn blows, it is to warn the people.Indeed, you never do anything, Father, that you haven't first revealed through your prophets.
The lion has roared, you have spoken, I cannot refuse to proclaim your message.
Father, you are the one who shaped the mountains. You stir up the winds, and reveal your thoughts to me. You turn the light of dawn into darkness and tread on the heights of the earth. You are the God of Angel Armies.
I returned to you, Father, and you brought me back to life -- life more abundant. You created the stars, the Pleiades and Orion. You turn darkness into morning and day into night. You draw up water from the oceans and pour it down as rain on the land. You are Lord.
You know the vast number of my sins and the depth of my rebellion, yet you chose to forgive me.
I do what is good and run from evil so that I may live! And you are my helper, just as I have claimed. I hate evil and love what is good. You pour out your mercy on me.
 
Your home reaches up to the heavens, while its foundation is on the earth.You draw up water from the oceans and pour it down as rain on the land. You are the Lord.
You have restored my fallen house and repaired its damaged walls. From the ruins, you rebuilt my life and restored me to glory. You have called me your own. You always keep your promises. 
You have increased my good. Abundance comes in faster than I can harvest it. You have firmly planted me in your land of promise and I will never be uprooted.
So be it.

Episode 369: Joel 2

Today's Prayer Meditation is on Joel 2
Father, I give you my heart. I come to you with fasting. I don't tear my clothing in grief, but I tear my heart instead. I return to you for you are merciful and compassionate, slow to anger and filled with unfailing love. 
You are eager to forgive and not punish. You gave me a reprieve and sent a blessing instead of a curse. I offer you my life as a living sacrifice. 
I am your special possession. You won't let me become an object of mockery, or a joke for unbelievers. 
You showed pity on me. You send me everything I need to satisfy my needs. I have been revived.
I have nothing to fear. I am glad and rejoice, for you have done great things for me. You have brought me to green pastures. The trees are filled with fruit, fig trees and grapevines are loaded down once more. 
I rejoice in you, Father. The drought is over. The favor you rain on me demonstrates your faithfulness. My storehouses are piled high and my cup overflows.
You have given me back what I lost to the swarming locusts, the hopping locusts, the stripping locusts, the cutting locusts. 
I have everything I want, and I praise you Father. You do miracles for me. Never again will I be disgraced for you are with me. You are my God. There is no other.
You pour your Spirit out on your people. We prophesy, dream dreams, and see visions. You have poured your Spirit out on men and women alike. You cause wonders in the heavens and on the earth. 
I called on the name of the Lord, and you saved me. 
So be it.

Episode 368: Hosea

Today's Prayer Meditation is on the book of Hosea
I returned to you, Father. I was torn to pieces, but you healed me. I was injured, but you dressed my wounds.
You revived me and restored me so that I could live in your presence. 
Oh, that I might might know you more. I press on to know you. And you respond to me as surely as the arrival of dawn or the coming of rains in the early spring. 
Your judgments are as inescapable as light. You show me love. You desire mercy, not sacrifice from me. You want me to know you. You want to restore my fortunes.
You love me. You teach me how to walk in your ways, leading me along by the hand. You take care of me. You lead me along with your ropes of kindness and love. You lifted the yoke of bondage from my neck, and you supply my every need. Your compassion overflows. 
You roar like a lion, and I return to you. You bring me home again. I obey you and am faithful to you. You are the Holy One.
I speak with you face-to-face. I act with love and justice and I always depend on you. 
I acknowledge no God but you, for there is no other savior. 
My sins had brought me down, but I confessed my sins and returned to you. And you forgave me and graciously received me. I offer you my praises. No one else can save. In you alone I find mercy.
You healed me of my faithlessness. Your love knows no bounds. You are like a refreshing dew from heaven. I blossom like the lily, sending roots deep into the soil. My branches spread out like the beautiful olive tree, and as fragrant as cedars. 
I live under your shade. I flourish like grain and blossom like a grapevine. My life is as fragrant as the choicest wine.
I stay away from idols. You are the only one who answers my prayers and cares for me. You are like a tree that is always green, all of my fruit comes from you. 
Your paths are true and right, and I live by walking in them.
So be it.

Episode 367: Daniel 5 & 9

Today's Prayer Meditation is on Daniel Chapters 5 and 9
I give thanks to you, Father, for everything you have done for me. 
I serve you faithfully. You have rescued me from the enemy. You find me innocent in your sight. I trust in you alone. 
Peace and prosperity are mine.
You are the living God. You will endure forever. Your kingdom will never be destroyed and your rule will never end. 
You rescued me and provided complete salvation for me. You perform miraculous signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth.
 
Father, you are a great and awesome God! You always fulfill your covenant and keep your promises of unfailing love to those who love you and obey your commands. I sinned and did wrong. I rebelled against you and scorned your commands. I refused to listen to your servants the prophets, who spoke on your authority.
You are in the right. My face was covered with shame because of my disloyalty to you. But you are merciful and forgiving, even though I rebelled against you. I turned away, refusing to listen to your voice.
Much of what has gone wrong in my life was a direct result of my disobedience to you. You always keep your word. Yet I didn't seek mercy or recognize your truth. I gave the enemy a foothold in my life.
But you brought lasting honor to your name by providing a savior. In view of all your faithful mercies, you smiled on me.
I turned to you, and you heard my prayer. You leaned down and listened to me. I didn't ask for your help because I deserved it, but because of your mercy.
You heard. You listened. You acted. You forgave. 
The moment I begin praying, you give the command. I am very precious to you. 
So be it.

I will praise your name forever and ever, Father. All wisdom and power belong to you. You set in motion the times and the ages. You remove kings and set up other kings. You give wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those with understanding. 
You reveal deep and mysterious things, hidden secrets that lie veiled in the darkness. Pure light radiates from within you and surrounds you. 
I thank and praise you, Father. You have given me wisdom and strength.
You are the God who reveals secrets and shows me things to come. You want me to have understanding.
I do not need to defend myself before men. Even if I were thrown into a blazing furnace, you are able to save me. I will never serve or worship another god. I am willing to die rather than serve or worship any god except you.
Peace and prosperity are mine. How great are your signs. How powerful are your miracles. Your kingdom will endure forever. I bless you and praise you. I lift you up and glorify you because all you do is true. And all your ways are just.

I was like dead, dry bones. All of my hope was gone. I was finished. But you breathed life into me and made me live again. You caused me to rise again. You brought strength and vitality to my muscles and skin. No one could have revived me but you. You alone are God. 
It wasn't enough for me to try harder and do better. I needed your grace, Father. I needed to be washed clean with fresh water. I needed a new heart and a new spirit. Your sweet breath came like the wind from the four corners of the earth and brought me back to life. And you brought me back home to you. I embrace your design for my life. 
Father, you put your Spirit in me. Never again will I pollute myself with rebellion. You saved me and you made me pure and clean again. I am yours and you are my God. I obey your word. 
Jesus is my king and my shepherd. You have made a covenant of peace with me, an everlasting promise. You have made me strong and brought me increase. And you have made your home within me. You make me holy. 
I am yours, and you are my God. 
So be it.

Father, you brought me back into righteousness -- right relationship with you; not because I deserved it, but because of your unfailing love and mercy. You have shown me how holy your great name is. You reveal your holiness through me.
You have sprinkled clean water on me and made me clean. My filth was washed away, and I am clean and pure. I no longer rely on my own strength or on other sources for my provision. I worship you alone. 
You gave me a new heart and put a new spirit in me. You took out my stony, stubborn heart and gave me a tender, responsive heart. You put Holy Spirit in me to inspire me to live by your Word and to walk in your ways. 
I am yours, and you are my God. You cleansed me of my impurity. 
You make me prosper. The seeds I plant bring forth abundant crops and great harvests. I have repented of my sins, and turned from my wicked ways. You are gracious and merciful, you see me not as I was, but as I am in Christ Jesus. 
You rebuilt the ruins of my life. The fields that used to lie empty and desolate, are now rich and fertile. My life is like the Garden of Eden. You have built strong walls of protection around me. You are faithful to keep your promises.
So be it.

Father, your sheep wandered away and were lost. They were scattered without a shepherd, and were easy prey for the enemy. They wandered through all the mountains and all the hills, across the face of the earth, and no one went to search for them. 
But you yourself searched and found me, like a shepherd seeks after, cares for and watches over his scattered flock. You found me and rescued me, and brought me back home. You look after me. You abundantly provide for all of my needs. You have given me good pastureland. I lie down in pleasant places and feed in the lush pastures of the hills. You yourself tend your sheep. You give me a place to lie down in peace. 
You search for your lost ones who have gone astray, and bring them safely home again. You bandage the injured and strengthen the weak. 
You rescued me and I am no longer abused. You set one shepherd over your flock, Jesus the Messiah. He takes care of me and is my shepherd and you are my God. 
You have made a covenant of peace with your people. I sleep soundly without fear. You bless me and my home. You send showers of blessing. My business yields bumper crops. 
You broke my chains of slavery and rescued me from the enemy. You are the Lord. I am safe and free and fearless.
You are my God, and you are always with me. I am yours. I am part of your flock, one of the sheep of your pasture. I belong to you. 
So be it.
