Episode 261: Proverbs 12

Today's prayer meditation is on Proverbs 12
Father God, I love learning, and I love the discipline that goes with it. I will not refuse your correction. I don't flaunt my knowledge.
I do not act as if I am important, but ordinary. I'm content to work for a living. I don't chase whims and fancies, but I keep working and there is always food on my table. A lazy life is empty, so I rise early and eager to start the day and get my work done. I find freedom in my work. 
My home will hold together. I talk sense and I am honored. My conversation keeps me out of trouble. Well-spoken words bring satisfaction and well-done work has its own reward. I survive misfortune because you are always with me, protecting and guiding me.
I am not headstrong, doing whatever I like, but I am willing to take advice. I do not have a short fuse, but quietly shrug off insults. My thinking makes for justice and my speech saves. My truthful witness clears the air. Lies are here today and gone tomorrow, but truth lasts forever. 
Worry weighs people down, so I try to speak cheerful words to lift them up. There is healing in my words. My root gives life and more life. Peace planning brings me joy. No evil can overwhelm me. I keep my word, and you love my company, Father. I bask in your delight. My life is rooted in you and I stand firm.  
So be it.

Today's prayer meditation is on Proverbs 11
You love an above-board business, Father. And that's the way I conduct my business. I am down-to-earth and stand firm. My integrity keeps me honest and on track. 
I live a principled life and can stand up to the worst. My strong, moral character makes for smooth traveling, for a good character is the best insurance. I am saved from a lot of trouble simply by being and doing good. Common sense preserves me. When it goes well for me, everyone cheers me on and celebrates. I live right and bless my community, and it flourishes. 
I practice quiet discretion and good sense. I have integrity and won't violate a confidence. 
I seek out and follow wise counsel, and my chances of success skyrocket. I keep a cool head and avoid rash bargains. My gentle grace earns me respect. My kindness to others not only helps them, but it helps me too. 
I am well-paid for the good work I do. I take my stand with your loyal community of followers, Father, and live a good life. You relish integrity. I am loyal to you, and I always triumph.
My desires lead straight to the best. My world gets larger and larger. I bless others and I am abundantly blessed. I help others, and I am helped. I am blessed because I play fair and square. I seek good and I find delight. 
Father, you have shaped my life like a flourishing tree. Like a fruit-bearing tree, I experience an abundantly good life.

Episode 259: Proverbs 10

Today's prayer meditation is based on Proverbs 10
Father God, I know that ill-gotten gain will get me nowhere. Guide me in doing the right thing and in offering truly valuable service that will support and empower others. 
I know that an honest life is immortal. You take care of those who are honest and feed their souls. I will not be slothful. I will be diligent in my work, and it will bring me wealth. I do not delay or procrastinate, but make hay while the sun is shining. I know that blessings accrue on a good and honest life. 
Make my life a blessed memorial, Father. My heart is open to hearing and following your direction.
I will live boldly and carefree in honesty. I confidently look others in the eye when I meet with them. Our interactions result in peace. 
My words are a deep, life-giving well, and my love pulls a quilt over bickering. Others find wisdom on my lips that comes from being a person of insight. I accumulate knowledge, which is a true treasure, and listen more than I speak.
My wealth is my defense. My wage is an exuberant life. The road to this life is discipline. So I welcome correction. 
I do not hoard hatred or spread slander, but I spread love and truth. I measure my words and I make my speech worth waiting for. I choose my words carefully so they will be rich food for many. You have made my mouth a clear fountain of wisdom. My speech clears the air.
Father, your blessing makes my life rich, with no sorrow. There is nothing I can do to improve on your plans. I relish wisdom, and you give me the desires of my heart. When the storms come, I'm not even fazed, because I stand firmly on the rock foundation of your Word. 
Fearing you has expanded my life. It has given me vision and reason to celebrate. You are the solid backing to my life. With you, I am able to outlast the wicked. I cannot be moved.

Episode 258: Proverbs 9

Today's prayer meditation is on Proverbs 9
Father God, in the past, I have been confused about life. At times, I didn't know what was going on. But I know you do, Father. Nothing takes you by surprise. 
Wisdom isn't hidden, she stands in a prominent place and invites me to a changed life. So I leave impoverished confusion behind and live. I walk in wisdom to a life with meaning. 
I don't waste my time with the arrogant or with scoffers. But I do offer loving correction to those who care about life, and they love me for it. We correct each other when we see something out of line. That's what friends do.
So I save my breath for the wise and they are wiser for it. I tell good people what I know, and they profit from it. 
I know that skilled living gets it's start in the fear and reverence of you. And understanding of and insight into life comes from knowing you, Father. 
Through wisdom, my life deepens and the years of my life ripen. I live wisely  and wisdom penetrates my life.
So be it.

Episode 257: Proverbs 8

Today's prayer meditation is on Proverbs 8
Father God, I hear wisdom calling. I hear understanding raising her voice at the busiest intersections of my life. From her, I learn good sense. She tells me how to live well. She tells me how to live my best.
I savor and relish truth. I can't stand the taste of evil. I speak only true and right words from my mouth, not one syllable is twisted or skewed. 
I open my mind, ready for truth. I prefer life discipline over chasing after money and I prefer your knowledge over a lucrative career. Wisdom is better than all the trappings of wealth. Nothing I could wish for holds a candle to wisdom. 
Wisdom lives next door to sanity. Knowledge and discretion live just down the street.
Father, fearing you means hating evil. I hate evil ways with a passion -- pride and arrogance and crooked talk. I seek good counsel and common sense as one of my characteristics. I have both understanding and the virtue to live it out. 
I love wisdom. I seek it and I find it. Wealth and glory accompany wisdom. Also substantial honor and a good name. The benefits of wisdom are worth more than a six-figure salary, and the returns exceed any imaginable bonuses. 
I find wisdom in the paths of righteousness, that's where she walks. Wisdom fills my arms with life. 
Father, you made wisdom first -- the foundation -- before you did anything else. Long before you created the Earth. Wisdom was there before the oceans, rivers springs, and lakes. Before mountains were sculpted and hills took shape, wisdom was there. Before you stretched out Earth's horizons and tended to the details of soil and weather, before you set the sky in place, wisdom was there. 
With wisdom, you gave borders to the ocean. You built the vast vault of Heaven and staked out the foundation of the Earth. Wisdom celebrated your marvelous creation with you. 
I embrace the ways of wisdom and I am most blessed. I live a life of discipline, living wisely and not squandering my precious life. I am blessed because I listen to wisdom. 
I awake ready for wisdom each morning, alert and responsive as I start my day. In wisdom, I find real life and Your good pleasure, Father. 
So be it.

Father God, I treasure your careful instructions. I do what you say, and I live well. Your teachings are as precious to me as my eyesight. I guard them. I write them on the back of my hands and I etch them on the chambers of my heart. 
I talk to wisdom like a sister. I treat understanding as a friend. They help me to fend off temptations.
I don't fool around with the ungodly. I don't even stroll through their neighborhoods.
I take your Words seriously. I keep my eyes focused on you, and my feet secure on the paths of righteousness. I guard my life with your revelation-truth.

Episode 255: Proverbs 6

Today's prayer meditation is on Proverbs 6
Father God, I do not go into debt by living beyond my means. I am a good steward of all the blessings you have poured out on me. I do not procrastinate, nor do I act impulsively. 
I take a lesson from the ant. It works hard storing up food during the summer and stockpiling provisions at harvest. I also work diligently. I sow seed into good soil, and I am a good steward of the harvest that comes. 
I avoid the things you hate. I am not arrogant. I do not lie. I put my hands to good work, things that give life. I keep my heart pure and focus on good things. I keep my feet steady on the paths of righteousness. I do not take oaths, but let my yes be yes and my no be no. I am a peacemaker in my family.
I follow my father's good advice and don't wander off from my mother's teachings. I wrap myself in them from head to foot. I wear them like a scarf around my neck. Wherever I walk, they guide me. Whenever I rest, they guard me. When I wake up, they tell me what's next. 
Sound advice is a beacon. Good teaching is a light. Moral discipline is the life path that I follow. 
So be it.

Episode 254: Proverbs 5

Today's prayer meditation is on Proverbs 5
Father God, I will pay close attention to your words, your wisdom. Open my eyes to see things from your viewpoint. Help me to acquire and develop a taste for good sense founded on your Word. 
I do not treat your Word casually. I keep my distance from the things of this world that would seduce me and lead me away from truth, away from you. I don't want to surrender my wonderful life, to waste my precious life among the hard-hearted. I don't allow strangers to take advantage of me, or those who care nothing about me to exploit me.  
I don't want to end my life with regrets, saying "Why didn't I do what was put on my heart?" or "Why did I reject a disciplined life?" or "Why didn't I listen to my mentors and teachers?"
I will not end up with my life in ruins. I will have something to show for my life. I will do Kingdom work while I'm here. 
I do not take those I love for granted. I enjoy the company and fellowship of family and friends. And if, in my later years, you bring me a soul mate to share our journey together, I will be a loving, devoted and faithful spouse. 
Father, I know you don't miss a move I make. You are aware of every step I take. I enjoy eternal and more abundant life as the reward of a disciplined life. 
So be it.

Episode 253: Proverbs 4

Today's prayer meditation is on Proverbs 4
Father God, I listen to your Word. I pay attention and gain understanding. Your teachings are sound, and I will not forsake them. Through your Word, I know how to live. I won't let it go in one ear and out the other.
I gladly trade the treasures of this world for wisdom and search for understanding at all costs. I won't forget one word, and if I do, Holy Spirit will bring it to my mind. I will not deviate an inch or walk away from wisdom. She guards my life. I love her and she keeps her eye on me. Above all and before all, I seek wisdom. And along with wisdom, I seek understanding. 
I wrap my arms around her and she exalts me. I embrace her and she brings me honor. She makes my life glorious, adorning it with a garland of grace and filling my days with beauty.
Following your Word, Father, adds years to my life. Your Word gives me clear directions to the way of wisdom. You have given me a road map to the path of righteousness.
You keep me from going down blind alleys and wasting time with wrong turns. My steps are not hampered and I do not stumble when I run. I hold tight to your instruction. I guard it well, for my very life is at stake. I steer clear of wickedness, not so much as setting a foot on that path. I give it a wide berth and continue along the paths of righteousness.
My path shines light the morning sun, ever brighter until the full light of day. My life is aglow with light. The longer I live, the brighter I shine, for Holy Spirit shines through me, lighting my way.
I listen to your Words. I tune my ears to your voice. I keep your message in plain view at all times. I meditate on it and inscribe it on my heart. Your Word is life to me -- real life, and health to my whole body. I'm bursting with life and health. 
I keep a vigilant watch over my heart because that's where life starts. Everything in my life flows from it. I watch my words. I say what I mean and I do what I say. I make my words count, because I know that words have power. So I avoid careless banter, white lies and gossip. I keep my eyes straight ahead, and ignore distractions. I give careful thought to the paths I take and where they will lead, and I am steadfast in all my ways. 
You make the road smooth before me. I don't turn to even look right or left, but stay focused on what lies ahead, on what you have prepared for me.

Father God, I will not forget what wisdom has taught me. I will take your commands to heart, so that I can live a long life of peace and prosperity. 
Love and faithfulness will never leave me. I will tie them around my neck and write them on the tablet of my heart. I win favor and a good reputation for living well in your eyes and in the eyes of people. 
I will trust you, Father, with all of my heart. I don't lean on my own understanding, but listen for your voice in everything I do and everywhere I go. I submit myself to you, and you make my path straight in front of me. I don't assume that I know it all. I run from evil and I run to you, Father. My body glows with health and my very bones vibrate with life. 
I honor you, Father, with everything you have given me. I give you the first and the best. You make my barns burst with harvest and my wine vats overflow. 
I will never resent your discipline or sulk under your loving correction. You correct me because you love me and delight in me. You want only the best for me. 
I am blessed because I have made wisdom and understanding my friends. They are worth far more than money in the bank. Their friendship is better than a big salary. Their value exceeds all the trappings of wealth. Nothing else I could wish for holds a candle to them.
With one hand, wisdom gives me long life, with the other, she gives me riches and honor. Her ways are pleasant and all of her paths are peaceful. She is the Tree of Life to me. I embrace wisdom and hold her tight, and I am blessed.
Father, you formed the earth with wisdom and you raised the sky with understanding. I guard clear thinking and common sense with my life, and don't lose sight of them for even a minute. They are life to me. With them, I travel safely and do not get tired or stumble. I am not afraid when I lie down, and I enjoy sweet sleep each night. 
I do not panic over alarms or surprises, or predictions about doomsday being just around the corner. Because you are here with me, Father. You keep me safe and sound.
I never walk away from someone who deserves help. I know that in that moment, I am your hands. I don't tell my neighbor, "Maybe some other time" or "Try me tomorrow," when I have the ability to help today. I do not try to take advantage of my neighbor.
I do not walk around with a chip on my shoulder looking for a fight. I don't try to shoulder my way through life like a bully. I know you cannot stand twisted souls. But you taken me into your confidence because I live an upright life.
You bless my home. You are always here to help. And you reward my wise living with honor.
