Father God, what a picture of forgiveness. As Jesus was being wrongfully murdered, he asked You to forgive those who were responsible. How often we hold onto unforgiveness for the smallest offense. Help us, Father, to forgive as we have been forgiven. Thank You for sending Jesus, Your Son, to die in our place. When he spoke the words "it is finished" our salvation was complete. Everything You had ever promised or provided for, was made available to us. Our sins were washed away, not just forgiven, but forgotten. Amen

Father God, as hard as it is to read the account of Jesus' torture, crucifixion and death, we know from the prophecies of the Old Testament, that it was actually far worse than these words depict. But more than the physical pain, Jesus bore the spiritual pain of our sins placed on him... and because of our sins, he was separated from You. We can't imagine the pain he endured, nor the pain You endured. Your only Son, he who was without sin, taking our sin. He took on the curse, every sickness, every disease, every disability, all the guilt and shame... he didn't deserve any of it, but he took it all on himself so that we could go free. What a price. We are humbled, Father. And so very grateful. Amen

Father God, thank You for the Gospel of John. Thank You that he recorded this magnificent prayer that Jesus prayed... not just over the disciples, but over all of us who believe, over me. We do believe, Father, we believe because of Your Word which Jesus gave us and which his disciples recorded for us. ThankYou for keeping us from the evil one, and for keeping us in You. Perfect us into one, Father, so that the world may see that we are in You and You are in us. Amen

Father God, it's hard for us to imagine how Judas, one of the twelve, could have betrayed Jesus. He traveled with him, was taught by him, saw him perform miracles, and surely knew that he was Your Son. But, Jesus warned us that we have to be on our guard and watch, because the enemy will be very subtle and will deceive even the chosen. Give us the heart of a servant, not desiring to be great, but in humility, serving others just as Jesus, our Lord and Savior, our King, humbled himself by becoming a man and by serving those he created, even through his death on the cross. Amen

Father God, truly, the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. Help us to not walk in the flesh, but to surrender ourselves to You and walk in the Spirit. It is in the Spirit that we find strength, and courage. Where our strength gives out, Yours is more than able to meet the need. So we take Holy Communion, not as a ritual or tradition, but remembering that it is only through the sacrifice of Jesus, that we are saved. He is the bread of life, and his blood has washed us clean. Thank You, Father, that You didn't remove the cup from him. We are so grateful that Jesus was willing to submit his will to You. May we also submit Father, and say, not our will, but Your will be done. Amen

Let us not squander our resources, but use them to further Your Kingdom work.You have prepared a Kingdom for us from the foundation of the world. We long to enter into it and into Your joy. Help us to be faithful, Father, and to not miss opportunities to do good.  Amen

Father God, Thank You for Your Word. Thank You for the disciples who asked Jesus for the signs of the end times, and who recorded them for us. You have told us what to expect, not to frighten us, but so that we can be prepared. We see wars, famines, plagues, and a loss of love throughout the world. We know the time is short. Help us to use this time wisely, Father, to add to Your Kingdom. We know it isn't Your will that anyone should perish. So we will spread the Good News wherever, however, and whenever we can. Amen

So we watch, and we diligently go about Your Work, spreading the Good News to all nations and all peoples whether personally, or whether sowing into missions. We are not idle, but wait expectantly for the triumphant return of our Lord, Savior and King. Amen
