Meditating The Word
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Joshua 1:8 Meditate means to muse, talk about, consider, meditate, sigh, sing. Our words have power (the power of life and death are in the tongue), but God‘s Word isn‘t just powerful, it‘s anointed. What if instead of speaking what we think about ourselves, we spoke God‘s Word over ourselves instead as a form of meditation? What if we personalized and prayed scripture as a form of daily meditation? Well, as God told Joshua, I believe that THEN you will make your way prosperous and THEN you shall have good success.

I once was full of price, stubbornly following my own desires and idolizing the things of this world. My accomplishments were completely worthless. But you have rotted away my personal pride. You created me to cling tightly to you, Father. I was created to be yours, your pride, and to bring honor and glory to your name.
I listen to you Father, and pay attention to your word. I am not arrogant. I give you all the glory, Father. I acknowledge you for everything you have done. I look for light, and find it only in you.
I cannot change the color of my skin anymore than a leopard can take away its spots. And on my own, I could not change my ways and do good. But you changed me, Father. You created a new heart and a new spirit within me. You gave me a hunger for what is good and a hatred for what is evil.
I do not put my trust in false gods, or in my own strength and abilities. I do not trust in the lies of another. I trust in you alone. You have washed away my sins and made me pure.
So be it.
Until next time, be blessed and be a blessing.

Father, you always give me justice. But to be perfectly honest, I don't understand why the wicked are so prosperous. Or why evil people are so happy. You have planted them, and they have taken root and prospered. Even those who have your name on their lips, are far from you in their hearts.
You know my heart, Father. You see me and test my thoughts. How long must this nation mourn because of the evil in the land?
I get tired racing mere men, so how will I race against horses? I stumble and fall on open ground, so what will I do in the thickets?
Even members of my own family have turned against me. They plot and raise complaints against me. I don't feel as though I can trust them no matter how pleasantly they speak.
I planted wheat, but harvested thorns. I wore myself out, but it did me no good. All I had to show for my efforts was a crop of shame.
But you, Father, had compassion for me. You brought me home. I diligently learn your ways and I trust in you. When I am weak, you are my strength. You keep me from stumbling. And I reap harvests that I did not plant.
You turned my life around and gave me a place in your beautiful land of promise. You made room for me in your family.
So be it.
Until next time, be blessed and be a blessing.

Father, you said that if I obey you and follow your commands, I will be yours and you will be my God. This was so you could keep the covenant you promised to Abraham and his seed and I am the seed of Abraham by faith.
Amen! Let it be so!
I remember the ancient covenant. I hear your voice and I follow your instructions. I do not stubbornly follow my own desires. I obey you, and you have brought me into the land of your promise and commanded your blessings upon me.
Yet, I know it is not by my own works that I have received righteousness. It is a gift from you, Father. I received it automatically when I received your son, Jesus, as my Lord and Savior.
Through him, I have the right of entering into your presence. You have called me a thriving olive tree, beautiful to see and full of good fruit.
I worship you alone, Father. When I call to you, you answer me. When I face trouble, you are there to guide me through it. God of Angel Armies, you make righteous judgments. You examine the deepest thoughts and secrets. No one who schemes against me will succeed.
So be it.
Until next time, be blessed and be a blessing.

I do not learn the strange practices and beliefs of other religions. I do not believe in horoscopes or astrology, nor try to read my future in the stars. I am not afraid of the predictions of those who do, even though others hang on their every word and design their lives around them. Their traditions and customs are useless; there is nothing to them.
Their gods are like lifeless, powerless scarecrows in a cucumber field. They can't speak and have to be carried around because they can't walk. There is no power in the false gods and idols of this world. They can't harm me and they can't do me any good.
My life is not my own, Father. I am not able to plan my own course. So correct me, but please be gentle.
Father, there is no comparison. You are great and your name is full of power. Who wouldn't worship the King of all nations? That title belongs to you alone. Among all of the wisest and mightiest people in the earth, there is no one who can compare to you.
There is no power in any earthly trinket, jewel or ritual. You are the only true God. You are the living God and my everlasting King. The whole earth trembles before you. No one can stand up to your wrath.
The so-called gods who didn't make the heavens and the earth will vanish from the earth and from under the heavens.
You made the earth by your power, and you preserve it by your wisdom. With your own understanding you stretched out the heavens. When you speak in the thunder, the heavens roar with rain. You cause the clouds to rise over the earth. You send the lightning with the rain and release the wind from your storehouses.
Compared to you, Father, the whole human race is foolish and has no knowledge. People disgrace themselves with the things they idolize. Their so-called gods and objects of power are nothing but a fraud. They have no breath or power. They are worthless, ridiculous lies. The work of their hands is an embarrassing mockery.
But you, Father, are no idol. You were not fashioned out of human hands or human imagination. You are the Creator of all that exists. The God of Angel Armies is your name.
So be it.
Until next time, be blessed and be a blessing.

I do not tell lies, but stand up for the truth. Deceit will never triumph. I know you, Father, and you are transforming me from glory to glory.
Test me like metal, Father. Refine me with your holy fire. You have put a new heart and a new spirit in me. I am instructed by you. And I am obedient to your direction and I walk in your ways. I do not stubbornly follow my own desires or put anyone or anything above you in life.
I do not boast in my own wisdom; any wisdom I have comes from you. I do not boast in my own power; you are my strength.I do not boast in my riches; for you are the one who has given me the power to obtain wealth.
I boast in this alone: That I truly know you and understand that you are the Lord. You demonstrate unfailing love. You are faithful, Father. You bring justice and righteousness to the earth. These are the things that delight you.
I am circumcised, not in the flesh, not by the letter of the law, but inwardly -- a circumcision of the heart by your Spirit.
So be it.
Until next time, be blessed and be a blessing.

When I fall, I get up again. When I discover I'm on the wrong road, I turn back. I do not stay on a self-destructive path, refusing to turn around. I embrace your truth, not lies. I confess my sins and repent. I have come home to you.
Any wisdom that I have, has come from your word, Father. I do not practice empty, religious rituals. They are like superficial treatments for mortal wounds. They offer peace, but there is no peace to be found through them.
I do not allow greed to corrupt me, or lust for what I don't deserve. I thank you, Father, that you don't give me what I deserve. But you have given me so much more. I could never earn it. It was a grace gift.
I hoped for peace, and peace came. I prayed for healing, and received it. When it seemed that my grief was beyond healing, you comforted me. When my heart was broken, you mended it and made it whole again.
You hurt when I hurt. When I was overcome with grief, you mourned. You longed to bring me close and restore me. My hope is found in you alone.
So be it.
Until next time, be blessed and be a blessing.

I will take a stand for you and proclaim your message. You have been merciful to me, Father. I have changed my ways. I stopped my evil thoughts and deeds. I do not exploit others, but treat others with justice. I do not idolize things of this world, or things of my own making. I worship you alone.
No longer do I rely on misguided words or embrace a superficial form of worship. I don't cling to lies or worthless illusions. I know that simply going to church or practicing religious rituals is meaningless. You look at my motives. You judge my heart.
Nothing takes you by surprise, Father. You see everything that happens. Nothing can be hidden from you. My life is an open book.
When I do things against your laws, I only hurt myself and bring myself shame. You didn't make arbitrary rules. But you have warned me in advance of the consequences of sin to protect me. You set life and death before me, and asked me to choose life.
You don't require offerings and sacrifices. What you want is for me to trust you and obey your voice. So I will obey you. I am yours and you are my God. I have abandoned the plans of my own stubborn heart. When I follow in your righteous paths, everything is well. You have shown me the way to a better life.
From ancient times, your prophets spoke your words. They have been penned for my benefit. I read and listen to your every word, Father.
I am eager to be taught and to live in your truth.
So be it.
Until next time, be blessed and be a blessing.

I take refuge in you, Father. I listen when you speak. You have opened my ears so I can hear. I do not scorn your word or take it for granted, but I take delight in it. I live by every word.
Religion offers only superficial treatments for mortal wounds. It gives assurances of peace, but there is no peace in it.
I stop at the crossroads and look around. I ask for the old, godly way, and I walk in it. I travel its path, and I find rest for my soul.
You have given your angels charge over me. And your Spirit warns me of things to come. I listen and do not reject your word. I hear it and do what you ask. I know that you prefer obedience over sacrifice.
So I offer you my sacrifice of praise, and the incense of my prayers. My heart is attuned to you.
You are the tester of metals, Father. You examine my ways and know my heart. You determine my quality. Remove the dross from my life and purify me with your holy fire.
So be it.
Until next time, be blessed and be a blessing.

Father, you are searching for honesty. I was once stubbornly set in my ways. But I have repented of my sins and rebellion. Now my face is set like stone toward you. I am determined to walk in your paths of righteousness.
Teach me your ways, Father. Help me to understand your laws. I gladly take on your yoke and follow your guidance and correction. I know your burden is light. You have broken the chains that once had me bound.
My rebellion was great and my sins were many. But your love is greater still. You pardoned me. You have forgiven my sins past, present and future. You provide for my every need.
Open my eyes, Father, so I may see. Open my ears so I may hear and understand your word.
You define the ocean’s sandy shoreline as an everlasting boundary that the waters cannot cross. The waves may toss and roar, but they can never pass the boundaries you set.
I will not turn away from you or abandon you, Father. From the depths of my heart, I want to live in your presence in awe of you. You give rain each spring and fall. And you assure me of a rich harvest for my work. You have showered me with wonderful blessings and many good things.
I take the side of the orphaned to help them prosper. I give generously to help the poor. You have made me great and rich. And I honor you by doing good deeds.
So be it.
Until next time, be blessed and be a blessing.

I returned to you, Father. I turned to you and came home. I threw away everything that might come between us, anything that I could possibly put in your place, anything else that I relied on or trusted in. I turned away from them and put them out of my sight. I have come home to you and I will stray away no more.
The words I speak, I speak with truth, justice and righteousness. In you I discover true blessing. And I give you all of my praise, for you are worthy.
I have plowed up the hard ground of my heart. I do not waste the good seed of your word among thorns. I surrender my pride and my power. I have removed all that stood between us and I devote myself fully to you. I have changed my heart before you, Father. With you as my God, I will live in peace.
I have cleansed my heart and do not harbor evil thoughts.
Help me to know you better, Father. Give me understanding. Teach me how to do right.
So be it.
Until next time, be blessed and be a blessing.

Meditating The Word
What if instead of speaking what we think about ourselves, we spoke God‘s Word over ourselves? What if we personalized and prayed scripture as a form of daily meditation?
That's the goal of this podcast. No filler, no ads... just God's Word personalized in the form of a daily confession.
