Meditating The Word

Today on Meditating the Word: Faith in Action, God Disciplines His Children, Warning and Encouragement, Mountains of Fear and Joy.
This is Day 357. We are reading Hebrews 11-13----
Father God, reading about those who led the way in the faith walk, we are encouraged. It isn't perfection you seek. We have read about the lives of all of these great men and women of God, and not one of them was perfect. Each of them were flawed and missed the mark. But they loved You and had faith in Your Word and Your promises. You framed the universe and all that is with Your Word, and You created us in Your image expecting us to also understand and use the power of our words. We seek, above all, to please You, Father. And Your Word is clear that the only way we can please You is through faith. We know that faith is the very substance, the title deed, the assurance of the things we hope for. So we ask today, Father, that You strengthen our faith, whether it takes 25 years to see Your Word fulfilled in our lives, or even if, as the prophets of old, we don't see the fulfilment in our lifetime, we will stand firm in faith, believing. Amen

Father God, thank You for Jesus, our high priest forever after the order of Mechizedek. He is our guarantee of a better covenant based on even better promises. Thank You that he is forever making intercession for me -- for I surely need it! Thank You for his sacrifice that was made once for all, and was more than enough to cover all of my sins. Father, write Your laws on my mind and on my heart. You are my God, and I am Your child. Help me to live my life by faith. Amen

Father God, thank You for Your Word which is sure and stands forever, settled in heaven. Thank You for Jesus, who tasted death for us so that we could live fully alive here and in eternity. Thank You that we have a high priest who understands. Jesus was tempted in every way as we are, so that he could help us, always providing a way of escape for every situation we face. We hold fast our confidence and hope. Thank You for the rest You have given us. We can rest from our works, because Jesus fulfilled the law. We are saved only by Your grace through him. Father, we don't approach you with timidity, but with boldness, and You shower us with Your grace and mercy in our time of need. Amen

Father God, thank You for the new birth. We have been born again, not of the corruptible seed of fallen humanity, but from Your incorruptible seed in Christ Jesus. Help us to prepare our minds for action through the study and application of Your Word, setting our hope fully on Your grace. We live our lives honoring, loving and respecting others. We don't repay evil with evil, but overcome evil with good, knowing that love covers a multitude of sins. We are sober and watchful, knowing the devil can't devour us when we are steadfast in the faith. So we will stand on the firm foundation and we shall not be moved. Amen

Father God, in whatever place we serve, let us be blameless, not self-pleasing or easily angered. Let us be hospitible, love good, and use every opportunity to build others up in the faith. We don't seek dishonest gain, Father, but are fair in our dealings doing everything for Your glory. Thank You for Your unmerited favor and grace, Father, for giving us the robe of righteousness -- of right standing with You -- not because of anything we did, but in Christ Jesus alone. We are justified by his grace and made equal heirs to his inheritance. We can never thank You enough for Your love and mercy. Amen

Father God, we pray for our leaders, for those in positions of power. We pray that they lead with godly wisdom. May those who don't know You be surrounded by men and women of faith who can guide and advise them. May they be saved, Father, and come to full knowledge of the truth. Open our hearts to revere our elders, even though that doesn't seem to be the custom in this current age and culture. It was never Your plan that people rely on the government to care for them in their later years, but that family would take care of their own, and where family wasn't available, the church would care for them. Bring us back to Your values and away from the selfish values of the world. May love be what drives us, and not a desire for wordly riches. May we learn to be content. Certainly, we came into the world with nothing, and will leave with nothing save the treasures that we have stored up in heaven. We set our hope on You and You alone, we follow after righteousness and we fight the good fight of faith. The fight that Jesus has already won. Amen

Not to complain or bemoan our situations, but to always give thanks for our blessings, because there is always something we can be thankful for. We bring to your our requests, Father, with thanksgiving, knowing that You are a loving and generous Father who wants nothing but the best for Your children. Help us to follow in Your footsteps and to generously give to every good work to further Your Kingdom here on Earth. Thank you for supplying all of our needs according to Your riches in Christ Jesus. We give you all the glory now and forever. Amen
