Father God, Thank you for showing us your heart, and your character in your Word. Joshua said that nothing failed of any good thing you had promised. Everything came to pass. You were faithful then, and you are faithful now. Thank you, Father. We know that if we can find a promise in your Word, we can stand on that promise. Your Word is forever settled in heaven, and cannot return to you void. Amen.

Father God, I love how you honored women, even in a patriarchal society. You did not forget the daughters of Zelophehad, but gave them an inheritance with their brothers. And as the Israelites were blessed and multiplied, you made room for them -- even when they were hesitant to go in and take the land you had promised. Provision had been made. Let us remember, Father, that you have also made provision for our every need, but it's up to us to receive it. Thank you for your love, your faithfulness, and your provision. Amen.

Father God, you are faithful. As we read the account of the kings and kingdoms that could not stand against your chosen people, it gives us courage knowing that as you fought for Israel, you fight for us today. And you keep your promises. At 85, Caleb was as strong as he has been 40 years earlier when he spied out the promised land. He trusted your word, gave a good report, and followed you wholeheartedly. And you didn't forget him. Help us to be like Caleb and conquer the giants in our lives, and live in your promises.  Amen.

Father God, thank you for the lessons we can learn from Joshua and the children of Israel. Over and over we read that Joshua did as he was commanded by you through Moses. And we understand not only the importance of following your Word, but of seeking your counsel and not going by our own judgment. And we see that when we walk in your paths, the enemy doesn't stand a chance against us, because you go before us and fight our battles. Thank you Father, for your faithfulness and for your covenant of protection over us.  Amen.

Father God, thank you for your Word, and thank you for showing us your heart through your Word. As we read about the fall of Jericho, again, the power of words is made plain. You had the children of Israel march around the city in silence, and asked that they not speak a word for seven days! until the blast of the trumpets... and then they were to shout in victory. Father, help us to keep a guard over our mouths, and like them, to not speak any words except for a shout of victory. All of your promises are true. And you are forever faithful. We will stand steadfast in the victory that has already been won for us in Jesus.  Amen.

Father God, as we read about Rahab, we are encouraged. You don't consider our past. You only consider our future, our purpose, and who you have created us to become in Christ Jesus. Rahab was a prostitute, yet, because of her faith in you, and her protection of your people, she is in the lineage of Jesus. Help us, Father, to do the right thing. As the Jordan didn't part until the priests stepped into it, give us the strength and the courage to step out in faith and do the work you have purposed for us. We give you all the glory and honor forever. Amen.

Father God, How we love your Word! Help us to know you as Moses did, face-to-face, not from a distance. You are our refuge and our fortress. We trust in you and we rest in your shadow. Your faithfulness is our shield. We have nothing to fear by day or by night. As long as we remain in your presence, evil cannot touch us. You have even sent your angels, your messengers, to be with us and guard us. You satisfy us with long life. And you sent your very own Son to save us. You're so goodThank you for your faithful love, Father.  Amen.

Father God, it would be easy for us to look at the Children of Israel and ask how could they rebel against you time and time again, but we know that scripture was written, this history was recorded, to serve as a mirror for us. We look at their rebellion, and we find ourselves there. Yet, you are merciful. You were merciful to them, and you are merciful to us today. Your mercies are new every morning, and our sins have been forgiven -- even the ones we haven't committed yet. Help us to stay true to your Word, Father. Help us to turn away from anything that would influence us to disobey you. Make us strong and courageous to follow you. In Jesus' name we pray,  Amen.

Thank you that we live under grace and that the blessings of the covenant of Abraham are ours through faith. Thank you that we are blessed in the city and blessed in the field; blessed coming in and blessed going out; and that everything we set our hands to is blessed. May all that we do bring glory to your name. Amen.
