Today on Meditating the Word, Hezekiah consults Isaiah, Hezekiah's prayer, Sennacherib's defeat and death, Hezekiah's sickness and recovery, and Hezekiah shows off his treasures to the envoys of Babylon.
This is Day 206. Today we are reading Isaiah 37-39 and praying Psalm 76
----
Father God, We learn some valuable lessons from King Hezekiah. He lived a life mostly devoted to you. When he was threatened by Assyria, he sent to the prophet, and he spread out the letter, his concerns, before You in Your presence and prayed. And You delivered him. Then when he was sick and about to die, he cried out to You, and You showed him mercy and added years to his life. But then he allowed pride in earthly riches to cloud his judgment. And in his boasting and showing off, he put the nation and all its people at risk. Father, help us to always remain humble before You, and to always value our relationship with You over the things of this world. If we have anything to boast about, it's that You have redeemed us. Thank You, Father. Amen
