Father God, when Jonah prophesied against Nineveh, they listened, and they repented and turned to You. And You had mercy on them. But years later, they had turned back to their old ways once again. So You sent another prophet, Nahum. But they didn't listen. We see that You send messengers to try to turn people away from disaster. Open our ears, Father, to hear the messages You send us today -- through Your Word, through Holy Spirit, through those around us. Help us to listen, to hear, and to obey. Amen

Father God, over and over again, we see your mercy when your people repent. And Father, we know repenting doesn't just mean confessing or admitting that we have sinned and missed the mark, but rather, it means a turning away from. So, Father, today we ask that you give us a new heart and renew our spirits within us so we don't continue in our sins, but truly repent and turn back to you in obedience. Thank You, Father. In Jesus's name we pray. Amen.

Although we didn't deserve it, in your loving mercy and kindness, you redeemed us through Jesus. We couldn't do anything to save ourselves, so you brought salvation to us and have given us Your breastplate of righteousness. You have given us Holy Spirit, and you have given us Your Word. And your Word will not depart out of our mouths, or the mouths of our children or our children's children from now on and forever. Amen

Your Word cannot return to You void, Father, but will prosper in our lives where You have sent it. No weapon formed against us can prosper. We enter into Your peace and we delight ourselves in You. Father God, such mixed emotions reading these passages of the prophet Isaiah. We are brought to tears when we read about the Jesus, our Messiah, and how he was destined to suffer and to die for us. He was without sin, but he became sin for us. He was beaten, and took on all manner of sickness and disease until he was no longer recognizable... all for us. He bore our iniquities. He took on our guilt and our shame. He poured out his soul even to death. But the story didn't end there. He took our place in hell. And he defeated the enemy and death and rose again. And because he lives, we have life everlasting through him. We are so, so grateful, Father, for such an incredible sacrifice, for such amazing love. We can never say thank you or praise you enough. Amen
