Episode 84: Matthew 6:25-34
Today's meditation is based on Matthew 6:25-34 from the Passion Translation
I am not worried about my life, for all that I need will be provided: food, water, clothing — everything my body needs. There is more to my life than just the next meal. And there is more to my body than the clothes I wear.
I consider the birds. They don't worry about their existence. They don't plant or reap or store up food, yet my heavenly Father provides them each with food. And I know that I am much more valuable to my Father than the birds of the air. And I cannot add a single thing to my life by worrying.
Why would I worry about my clothing. I look at all the beautiful flowers of the field. They don’t work or toil, and yet not even Solomon in all his splendor was robed in beauty like one of these flowers! God has clothed the meadow with hay, which is here for such a short time and then dried up and burned, so I know he will provide the clothes that I need. So I put all of my trust in him.
I forsake my worries. I don't ask ‘What will I eat?’ or ‘What will I drink?’ or ‘What will I wear?’ For that's what the unbelievers chase after. My heavenly Father already know the things my body requires.
So above all, I constantly seek God’s kingdom and his righteousness, knowing that then all these less important things will be given to me abundantly. I refuse to worry about tomorrow, but deal with each challenge that comes my way, one day at a time. Tomorrow will take care of itself.
Until next time, be blessed and be a blessing.
