Episode 41: Hebrews 10

Today's Meditation is based on Hebrews 10 from the Passion Translation

The old system of living under the law was just a faint shadow, a crude outline of the reality of the wonderful blessings that came with Jesus Christ. Even a steady stream of sacrifices offered year after year, couldn't make my heart perfect before God. Once was not enough. So if animal sacrifices were still required year after year, it would be a continual reminder of my sins and an impure heart. 

But when Jesus the Messiah came into the world, he came clothed in a body so he could offer himself as the final sacrifice. He satisfied justice. He choose to be the One to do the Father's will and fulfill everything that was prophesized about him in the Word.

He abolished the need for animal sacrifices by removing my sin completely. He replaced the old covenant with a new and better covenant. By God's will I have been purified and made holy once and for all through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus, the Messiah!

And when Jesus, my High Priest had offered the one supreme sacrifice for sin for all time he sat down on a throne at the right hand of God. And there he waits until all his whispering enemies are subdued and turn into his footstool. By his one perfect sacrifice he made me perfectly holy and complete for all time!

The Holy Spirit confirms this by Scripture, saying that afterwards, there would be a new covenant, and he would embed his laws into my heart and fasten his word to my thoughts. And he promised to never remember my sins and lawless deeds -- ever again. 

Since my sins have been forgiven and forgotten, there is no need to offer another sacrifice for sin.

I am a child of God, part of his family because of the blood of Jesus, and he welcomes me to come into the most holy sanctuary in the heavenly realm — boldly and without hesitation. For he has dedicated a new, life-giving way for me to approach God. For just as the veil was torn in two, Jesus’ body was torn open to give me free and fresh access to God!

I now have a magnificent High Priest to welcome me into God’s house, so I come closer to God and approach him with an open heart. I am fully convinced that nothing will keep me at a distance from him. My heart has been sprinkled with blood to remove impurity, and I have been freed from an accusing conscience. I am clean, unstained, and presentable to God inside and out!

I wrap my heart tightly around the hope that lives within me, knowing that God always keeps his promises! I discover creative ways to encourage others and to motivate them toward acts of compassion, doing beautiful works as expressions of love. This is not the time to pull away and neglect meeting together, as some have formed the habit of doing. In fact, I strive to get together even more frequently, eager to encourage and be encouraged and urge others onward in anticipation of that day dawning.

I remember the days right after the Light shined in my heart! Even when I had to endure seasons of hardship, I stood my ground. If I am publicly shamed, mistreated, or persecuted for my faith; yet will I stand side by side with those who preach the message of hope.

I will accept these violations with joy; because I am convinced that I possess a treasure growing in heaven that can never be taken from me. 

I will not lose my bold, courageous faith, for I am destined for a great reward!

I thank God for the strength of endurance to reveal the poetry of his will and I know that I will receive the promise in full. For soon and very soon, the One who is appearing will come without delay!

I will live from his faith. Fear cannot hold me back. I have faith and experience true life!
