Episode 338: Jeremiah 12
Today's Prayer Meditation is on Jeremiah 12
Father, you always give me justice. But to be perfectly honest, I don't understand why the wicked are so prosperous. Or why evil people are so happy. You have planted them, and they have taken root and prospered. Even those who have your name on their lips, are far from you in their hearts.
You know my heart, Father. You see me and test my thoughts. How long must this nation mourn because of the evil in the land?
I get tired racing mere men, so how will I race against horses? I stumble and fall on open ground, so what will I do in the thickets?
Even members of my own family have turned against me. They plot and raise complaints against me. I don't feel as though I can trust them no matter how pleasantly they speak.
I planted wheat, but harvested thorns. I wore myself out, but it did me no good. All I had to show for my efforts was a crop of shame.
But you, Father, had compassion for me. You brought me home. I diligently learn your ways and I trust in you. When I am weak, you are my strength. You keep me from stumbling. And I reap harvests that I did not plant.
You turned my life around and gave me a place in your beautiful land of promise. You made room for me in your family.
So be it.
Until next time, be blessed and be a blessing.
