Episode 324: Isaiah 64
Today's Prayer Meditation is on Isaiah 64
Oh Father, how I wish you would burst from the heavens and come down! The heights and depths of the earth would quake in your presence! As fire causes wood to burn and water to boil, your coming would make the nations tremble. The scoffers and doubters would see who you are and learn the reason for your fame!
When you came down long ago, you did awesome deeds, miracles beyond our highest expectations. And oh, how the mountains quaked!
Since the world began, no ear has heard and no eye has seen a God like you. You work for those who wait on you. You meet whoever tries with sincerity of purpose to do what you want, to be just and follow in your ways.
But I was not godly. I was a sinner in need of a savior. When I tried to be righteous through my own works, all of my right efforts were like filthy rags. Without your mercy, I would be like an autumn leaf, withered and fallen, swept away by my sins like the wind.
But I called out to you. I called on your name and you showered me with your everlasting love and compassion. You didn't leave me to dissolve away in my sins.
You are my father. I am the clay and you are the potter. I am the product of your creative action, shaped and formed into something of worth by your hands. You have made me whole. It's as though I never sinned. My sins are removed as far as the east is from the west. I am forgiven and I am yours.
So be it.
Until next time, be blessed and be a blessing.
