Episode 306: Isaiah 45

Today's Prayer Meditation is on Isaiah 45

You go before me, Father. Doors that you open cannot be closed. You level the mountains in front of me and cut through bars of iron. You give me treasures hidden in the darkness, secret riches, wealth tucked away in secret places. You do this so I may know that you are the Lord, the one who calls me by name. You have made me who I am. 

You called me by name when I didn't even know you. You gave me a purpose before I was even born. You are the Lord, there is no other. 

You have equipped me for spiritual battle. You prepared me for victory. You created the light and make the darkness flee. You made what is good, happy and healthy. You have opened up the heavens and poured out your righteousness upon the earth, so salvation and righteousness can sprout up together. You created them both.

I do not argue with you, Father. You are the Creator. Does a clay pot argue with its maker? Does the clay dispute with the one who shapes it, saying, ‘Stop, you’re doing it wrong!’ Does the pot exclaim, 'How clumsy can you be?’ 

I did not ask my father why I was born, or ask my mother why I was made this way. Why then, would I question you, Father, my Creator, about what you do for me? I would not dream of giving you orders about the work of your hands.

You are the one who created the universe -- heavens and earth -- gave it form and shape and set it in motion. You made the earth and created people to live on it. With your hands you stretched out the heavens. All the stars are at your command. I was created to fulfill your righteous purpose, you guide my actions. I will do what you ask me to do without seeking a reward. You are the God of Angel Armies. 

Others will look at my life and know that you are with me. You are the only God. There is no other. Truly, you work in mysterious ways. 

Those who believe in false idols will be humiliated and disgraced. But you have saved me with eternal salvation. Throughout everlasting ages, I will never again be humiliated or disgraced. 

For you are God. You created the heavens and earth and put everything in place. You made the world to be lived in, not to be a place of empty chaos. You are the Lord, and there is no other. 

You publicly proclaim bold promises. You do not whisper obscurities in some dark corner. Your promises are sure, faithful and true, and I claim them over my life. Your words have wings; they will be accomplished. You would not have told me to seek you if you could not be found. You speak only what is true and declare only what is right. 

There is no other God but you, a righteous God and Savior. I look to you for salvation. You have sworn by your own name. You have spoken the truth, and you will never go back on your word. 

Every knee will bow and every tongue will declare that you are God. 

You are the source of all my righteousness and strength. In you I am justified. In you alone I boast. Only by you shall I go with integrity and strength through life.

So be it.
