Episode 303: Isaiah 42

Today's Prayer Meditation is on Isaiah 42

Father, you sent your Son, whom you uphold, your chosen one in whom you delight. You put your Spirit on him, and he brings justice to the nations. He did not shout or cry out or raise his voice in the streets. He did not break the bruised or snuff out those who were like smoldering wicks. In faithfulness, he brings forth justice. He will not falter or be discouraged until he establishes justice on earth. In his teachings, I put my hope.

You are the Creator of the heavens. You stretched them out like a canopy above me. You spread out the earth with everything that springs from it. You gave me breath and life. You called me in rightousness. You took hold of my hand. 

Jesus is the shining light, the covenant keeper. In his name, blind eyes are opened and see again. Prisoners are set free from caverns of captivity, released from cells pitch black with despare.

You are the Lord. I Am is your name. You will not yield your glory to another or your praise to idols. What you prophesied has taken place, and you announce the new things you declare, before they spring into being. 

I sing a new song to you, Lord. I sing your praise from the ends of the earth. Even the creatures in the sea praise you. The wilderness and its towns raise their voices. The settlements rejoice. 

I sing for joy and shout from the mountaintops. I give you glory, Lord and proclaim your praise. 

You marched out like a champion, like a warrior you stirred up your zeal; with a shout you raised the battle cry and triumphed over your enemies.

You lead me by ways I haven't known. Along unfamiliar paths you guide me. You turn the darkness into light before me and make the rough places smooth. These are the things you do. You will never forsake me. 

I see your wonders, Father, and pay attention. My ears are open, and I listen intently to your every word. It pleased you to make your law great and glorious. 

I follow your ways and obey your laws. I take your every word to heart.

So be it.
