Episode 301: Isaiah 40
Today's Prayer Meditation is on Isaiah 40
You comfort me, Father. You speak tenderly to me and tell me that my sad days are gone. You have pardoned my sins.
The way was cleared for you. A straight highway through the wasteland was made for you, God. The valleys were filled, and the mountains and hills were leveled. The curves were straightened, and the rough places smoothed out. A way was made for your glory to be revealed.
Father, we are like grass. Our beauty fades as quickly as flowers in a field. The grass withers and flowers fade, but your Word, Father, stands forever.
I shout the message of good news from the mountaintops. I shout it loudly, and I am not afraid. Salvation has come. You come in power and rule with a powerful arm. You bring your reward with you as you come.
You provide for me, Father. You feed me like a shepherd feeds his flock. You carry me in your arms and hold me close to your heart. You gently lead your people.
Who else has held the oceans in his hand? Who has measured off the heavens with his fingers? Who else knows the weight of the world or has weighed the mountains and hills on a scale? Who is able to advise your Spirit? Who knows enough to give you advice or teach you? Have you ever needed anyone’s advice? Do you need instruction about what is good? Did someone teach you what is right or show you the path of justice?
Father, all the nations of the world are but a drop in the bucket. They are nothing more than dust on the scales. You pick up the whole earth as though it were a grain of sand. All the wood in greatest forests and all the animals in the country would not be enough to make a burnt offering worthy of you.
Who can I compare you to, Father? What image can I find to resemble you? You can't be compared to an idol formed in a mold, even overlaid with gold, and decorated with silver chains. Or to a wood carving by a skilled craftsman.
You spread out the heavens like a curtain and suspend them over my head like the roof of a tent. You judge the great people of the world. The rich and powerful of the earth are reduced to nothing.
No one compares to you, Father. No one is your equal.
I look up into the heavens at the stars you created. You bring them out like an army, one after another, calling each one by name. Not a single one is missing. They obediently shine, each in its place because of your great strength and power.
How could I ever even think that you do not see my trouble. How could I ever believe for one moment, that you have lost interest in my cause.
You are the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. You never grow weak or weary. Your wisdom is beyond my understanding.
You give power to me when I am weak. You give me strength when I am powerless. I trust in you and find new strength. I soar high on wings like an eagle. I run and do not grow weary. I walk never tired, never faint.
So be it.
Until next time, be blessed and be a blessing.
