Episode 296: Isaiah 29

Today's Prayer Meditation is on Isaiah 29

Father, you have crushed my ruthless enemies like the finest of dust. My many attackers have been driven away like chaff before the wind. In an instant, you, the God of Angel Armies, acted with thunder and earthquake and a great noise; with whirlwind and storm and consuming fire. 

All those fighting against your people will vanish like a dream. They will vanish like a vision in the night. They will dream of eating but wake up hungry. They will dream of drinking but be faint with thirst when morning comes. 

You amaze me, Father. The wonders you perform seem almost impossible, but I believe in you. You have awakened me from a spirit of deep sleep. You have opened my eyes to see visions.

I honor you with my lips, Father, and my heart is close to yours. I worship you, not with man-made rules learned by rote, but in spirit and truth. You favor me with your wisdom and intelligence. 

I do not try to hide my plans from you, Father. I do not do evil deeds in the dark. There is no darkness so dark that you cannot see. You always know what I am doing. Nothing is hidden from you. 

You are the potter, and I am the clay. You are certainly far greater than I am. I am the work of your hands.  

Soon—and it will not be very long—the forests will become a fertile field, and the fertile field will yield bountiful crops.

You make the deaf to hear words read from a book. You make the blind see through the gloom and darkness. You fill me with fresh joy. The poor rejoice in you, because they don't have to be poor anymore. 

I am no longer ashamed or afraid. You have showered me with blessings. I stand in awe of you, Father. 

So be it.
