Episode 294: Isaiah 26
Today's Prayer Meditation is on Isaiah 26
I will sing about the strength of our city. It is by your grace, that it is strong. It is surrounded by the walls of your salvation. The gates are open to all who are righteous. The faithful and trustworthy are allowed to enter.
You keep me in perfect and constant peace, Father, because I trust in you. And my mind is steadfast, committed and focused on you in both inclination and character. I trust in you always. I take refuge in you with hope and confident expectation. You are my fortress, my shield, my banner. You are an everlasting Rock. The Rock of Ages.
You humble the proud and bring down the arrogant. You bring their cities down to the dust. The poor and oppressed trample it underfoot, and the needy walk all over it.
But you make my path pleasant because I have right-standing with you. I live in moral and spiritual integrity. And you smooth out the path ahead of me, making it level. I show my trust in you by obeying your laws. My heart's desire is to glorify your name. Your name, even your memory, is the desire and deep longing of my soul.
In the night I search for you; in the morning I earnestly seek you.
Only when your judgments are experienced on the earth will people learn righteousness. Your kindness to the wicked does not make them do good. They do not learn righteousness. Although others do right, the wicked keep doing wrong and take no notice of your majesty.
Lord, they pay no attention to your upraised fist. Show them your eagerness to defend your people. Then they will be ashamed. Let the fire reserved for your enemies consume them.
Lord, you establish peace for me. Anything I have accomplished is through you. Although others have ruled over me, you alone are the one I worship. You have made this nation great. You have made your people great. You have extended our borders, and I give you all the glory.
In my distress, I searched for you. I prayed beneath the burden of my sins. I cried out in pain in your presence, Lord. I writhed in agony, and nothing came of my suffering. I was unable to save myself. But everything changed when I died in Christ and was raised again with him.
Now I sing for joy. Your life-giving light falls like dew and gives life to my spirit.
So be it.
Until next time, be blessed and be a blessing.
