Episode 281: Isaiah 1

Today's Prayer Meditation is on Isaiah 1

Father, you raised up your children, only to have us rebel against you. We didn't understand. Our guilt was great. We were given to corruption. We forsook you, Father, spurned you and turned our backs on you. 

My whole head was injured, and my whole heart afflicted. From the soles of my feet to the top of my head, there was no soundness, only wounds and welts and open sores, not cleansed or bandaged or soothed with olive oil. 

Father, before my eyes, I have seen my country in flames, cities laid waste, strangers trying to overthrow us. 

But there is still a remnant, Father, some survivors in a shelter of a city under siege. 

I listen to your Word and to your instructions. I know that the only sacrifice that has any meaning to you, is a living sacrifice. 

I will not bring you meaningless offerings, or incense, or observe feasts established on empty religious tradition. I know they have become a burden to you, one that you are weary of bearing. 

I spread out my hands in prayer, Father. I know that you see me. I know that you hear me.

I have washed myself with your word and made myself clean. I have repented from my wicked ways and stopped doing wrong. 

I do right and seek justice. I defend the oppressed. I take up the cause of the fatherless and plead the case of the widow.

You have settled the matter, Father. My sins were like scarlet, but you have washed them until they are white as snow. Though they were red as crimson, you have made them like wool. 

I am willing and obedient, Father, and you have given me good things to feast on. 

You vent your wrath on your foes, and avenge yourself on your enemies.

Father, purge away my dross and remove all my impurities. Restore godly leaders as in the days of old. Let us once again be called a Godly Nation, righteous and faithful.

So be it.
