Episode 138: Psalm 116

Today's meditation is on Psalm 116

I am passionately in love with you, Lord. You always hear me when I pray. You bend down to listen, and you always answer me.  As long as I have breath in my lungs, I will pray to you. As long as I'm living, I will commune with you, and you will listen to my heart's cry. 

Death stared me in the face—I was frightened and sad-close to slipping into its dark shadows. I was overcome with sorrow. But I cried out to you Lord, and you saved me. You are so kind and gracious to me. You are full of mercy, my God. 

Because of your passion toward me, you made everything right and restored me. You are my protector. I can relax and rest, confident and serene, for you reward me for simply trusting in you. You have performed mighty miracles in my life. You have saved me from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling. By your grace, I shall live and not die. I will live in your presence here on earth. I will stay faithful to you, my God, and speak words of faith.

What can I ever offer you to repay you for the blessings you have poured out on me? I will offer myself a living sacrifice. I will lift up your cup of salvation and praise you extravagantly for everything you have done. I know that I am very precious to you, and it is costly to you whenever one of your chosen ones dies.

O Lord, you have freed me from my bonds. You have broken open my life and freed me from my chains, and I will serve you forever. I will worship you passionately and offer you a sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving. With everything I am, and everything I have, I will praise you.
