Episode 118: Psalm 61

Today's meditation is on Psalm 61

O God, listen to my heart's cry! Hear my prayer! For no matter where I am, even when I'm far from home, at the far ends of the earth, I will cry out to you for a father's help. When my heart is faint and I'm overwhelmed by life, lead me into your glory, to the mighty, towering Rock higher than I. There I am safe and sheltered. For you are my refuge, my paradise of protection, a high tower where my enemies can never reach me. You lift me above the fray and hold me firmly in your wraparound presence.

Keep me in your glory. Let me live continually under the shadow of your wings, basking in your splendor. I will hide my life in you forever. You have heard my vows, O God, to love and serve you, and praise you every day. You have given me blessings, an inheritance of rich treasures, for I am your beloved.

You treat me like royalty, giving me a full and abundant life, like many generations, all packed into one. I will live enthroned with you forever. Guard me with your unending, unfailing loving-kindness. I long to walk in truth and grace with you all my days, praising your name continually, making every day a love-gift to you.
