Episode 116: Psalm 57

Today's meditation is on Psalm 57

Be good to me, O God, for I am trusting you! I have run to you for dear life. Open your grace-fountain for me, for you are my soul's true shelter. I am hiding beneath the shadow of your wings until this storm is past. I cry out to the God of heaven who does such wonders for me. He holds me together. He sends down a father's help from heaven and saves me because of his love and his faithfulness. God delivers generous love, and makes good on his promises, with his gracious and constant care.

God will rescue me from the enemy who is so intent upon destroying me. I am surrounded by fierce lions—hotheads whose teeth are sharp as spears and arrows. Their tongues are like sharp daggers. Lord, be exalted above the highest heavens! Cover the whole earth with your glory. The enemy has set a trap for me. Frantic fear grips me. He has dug a pitfall in my path. But look! You have cast him into his own pit!

O God, my heart is quiet and confident. No wonder I can sing your praises! Rouse yourself, my soul, with the music of his splendor-song! Wake up and sing his praises. My worship will awaken the dawn, greeting the daybreak with my songs of praise. Wherever I go, I will thank you, my God. I will thank you publicly throughout the land. I will sing your praises among the nations.

Your love is so extravagant it reaches to the heavens. Your faithfulness so astonishing it stretches to the sky.

Yes, be exalted, O God, above the heavens. May your glory shine throughout the earth.
