Episode 115: Psalm 56

Today's meditation is on Psalm 56

Lord, have mercy on me; all day long the enemy presses in. How he longs to conquer me.

But when I am afraid, I will put my confidence in you. Yes, I will trust the promises of God. I lay all my fears before you and trust in you with all my heart. Fearless now, I am proud to praise God. What can mere mortals do to me? With God on my side, I will not be afraid of what comes. The roaring praises of God fill my heart as I trust his promises. 

The enemy's plans are to harm me. Don’t let him, Lord. You have already cast him to the ground in defeat.

You have seen me tossing and turning through the night. You have collected all my tears and preserved them in your bottle! You have recorded every one in your book of remembrance.

The very moment I call to you for a father's help, the tide of battle turns and the enemy flees. This one thing I know: God is for me! I trust in the Lord. Fearless now, I am proud to praise God. What can mere mortals do to me?  With God on my side, I will not be afraid of what comes.

My heart overflows with praise to God for his promises. And God, you did everything you promised, and I'm thanking you will all my heart. You have saved me. You pulled me from the brink of death, my feet from the cliff-edge of doom. Now I stroll at leisure with God in sunlit fields in the land of the living, bathed in his life-giving light.
