Episode 110: Psalm 42
Today's meditation is on Psalm 42
As the deer pants for water, so I long for you, O God. I thirst for you, the living God. I want to drink deeply from the streams of pleasure flowing from your presence. My longings overwhelm me for more of you. I want to stand before you face to face. Night and day I need you.
Take courage, my soul! Do you remember those times (but how could you ever forget them!) when you sang with joy, praising the Lord? I go over these victories again and again, emptying out the pockets of my life. I was at the head of the worshipping crowd! Eager to arrive and worship. Shouting praises, singing thanksgiving, celebrating... Why then should I be down in the dumps? What reason do I have to sing the blues? I will fix my eyes on God. Just keep hoping and waiting on God, your Savior. For no matter what, I will still sing with praise for he is my saving grace. He puts a smile on my face. He's my God.
When I feel depressed and gloomy, I will meditate upon his kindness and rehearse everything I know of him. All his waves and billows have gone over me. My deep need calls out to the deep kindness of his love. Day by day the Lord pours out his steadfast love upon me, and through the night I sing his songs and my praises to the God who gives me life. My life is your prayer.
O my soul, don’t be discouraged. Don’t be upset. Expect God to act! Fix your eyes on him. For I know my God will break through for me. Then I'll have plenty of reasons to praise him all over again. He's my saving grace. He puts a smile on my face. He is my God.
Until next time, be blessed and be a blessing.
