Episode 106: Psalm 34

Today's meditation is on Psalm 34

I will praise the Lord no matter what happens. I bless him every chance I get. My lungs expand with his praise. I constantly speak of his glories and grace. I live and breath God. I'm bursting with joy over what he's done for me. My lips are full of perpetual praise. If I ever get discouraged, I take heart and remember what he has done in my life. I praise the Lord and exalt his name. 

When I cry to him, he answers me. He meets me more than halfway, and frees me from my anxious fears. I am radiant at what he has done for me. I have joined my life with his, and joy has flooded my soul. The Lord heard me and saved me out of my troubles. He brought his miracle-deliverance when I needed it most. He sends his angel to guard me and set up a circle of protection around me when I pray.

I have tasted and seen that the Lord is good. I drink deeply of the pleasures of God and experience for myself the joyous mercies he showers down on all those who trust in him. I belong to the Lord and reverence him and he supplies me with everything I need. Worship opens doors to all his goodness. Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry, but I will never lack any good thing for I seek the Lord, and his righteousness, and I am filled. I enjoy the beauty that fills each day.

I put all of my trust and fear in the Lord. I watch my tongue and keep my lips from lying. I turn from all known sin and I spend my time in doing good. Peace is my life motto. I practice being at peace with everyone. I embrace peace and don't let it get away. And God rewards me with a long, good life. 

For the eyes of the Lord are intently watching. He watches over his friends day and night. I receive the answers I seek when I cry out to him. The Lord hears me when I call for help and saves me out of all my troubles.

The Lord is close to me when my heart is breaking. He rescues me when I am humbly sorry for my sins. I don't escape all troubles. But even when bad things happen to me, the Lord saves me and does not let me be defeated by what I face.

Calamity will surely overtake the wicked; heavy penalties are meted out to those who hate the good. But the Lord has paid for my freedom, and he freely pardons me because I love him. He has declared me free and innocent. I turn to hide myself in him.
