Episode 102: Psalm 30

Today's meditation is on Psalm 30

I exalt you, Lord, and lift you high, for you lifted me on high out of the depths. You deserve all the credit for getting me out of the mess I was in. You made me triumph and didn't let the enemy gloat over me.

I called to you for help, crying out for a miracle, and you healed me. You put me back together and brought me back from the brink of death. You pulled me out of the grave. You gave me another chance at life when I was down and out. And now here I am, alive and well, and fully restored.

I sing praises and give thanks to the Lord. I praise his holy name. His anger lasts only a moment, but his loving favor lasts a lifetime; my nights of crying have given way to days of laughter and shouts of ecstatic joy.

I remember boasting "I've got it made! Nothing can stop me now! I'll never be shaken!" When you favor me, I stand firm, king of the mountain; but if you were to look the other way, I would fall to pieces, panic-stricken and depressed.

I call out to you, Lord, and cry for mercy: “What is there to be gained if I am silenced, if I go down to the pit? How then can I praise you? How can I proclaim your faithfulness?"

So, I cried out for your mercy and kindness, and you didn't fail me. You helped me out of my mess.

You transformed all my wailing into a whirling dance of ecstatic praise! You tore the heavy veil of mourning and wrapped me in the glory-garments of gladness. And now I'm bursting with song, a bliss inside that keeps me singing. I can't keep quiet about you, God, my God. I can never thank you enough. I will praise you forever.
