Episode 101: Psalm 27
Today's meditation is on Psalm 27
Because the Lord is my revelation-light and the source of my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life. He surrounds me and protects me. With him on my side, I'm fearless, afraid of no one and nothing.
Even if the wicked advance against me, I will not be shaken. They will just stumble and fall. Even if an army rises against me, I am calm and my heart doesn't fear. Even if war is imminent, I'm confident, and remain cool and collected.
There is only one thing I ask from the Lord, only one thing that I seek:
to live with him every moment in his house. All the days of my life, to gaze on his marvelous beauty, filled with awe, delighting in his glory and grace. I want to study at his feet. That's the only quiet, secure place in a noisy world. The perfect getaway.
In the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent. He holds me head and shoulders above all who try to pull me down.
In his presence, I shout for joy. I bring him my offerings of praise. I offer anthems that raise the roof, as I sing and make music with ecstatic joy to the Lord.
The Lord hears my voice when I call. He is merciful to me and answers me. He sends me the help I need. I heard his voice in my heart say, "Come, seek my face." And I'm seeking his face with all my heart.
God has always been there for me, and he won't turn his back on me now. He won't throw me out or abandon me. He keeps his door wide open. He is my helper and my Savior.
Even if my family and friends forsake me, God will always take me in.
The Lord teaches me his way. He makes it clear for me to understand as he directs me along a well-lighted street.
I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. So I will not give up or be impatient. I will wait for the Lord. I will be brave and courageous and never lose hope, for he will never disappoint me.
Until next time, be blessed and be a blessing.
