Day 237: Lamentations 1-2

Today on Meditating the Word we begin the Lamentations of Jeremiah. 

This is Day 237. Today we are reading Lamentations 1 and 2

Father God, these are hard lessons. The price Israel and Judah paid for their disobedience, their transgressions, for turning away from You, are painful to read. Yet, we know You sent messengers, Your prophets to warn them so that they could turn from their ways and return into covenant relationship with You. And we are grateful, Father, for the new and better covenant that we have through Jesus. Thankful that we are saved by grace and not by our own efforts to keep the 613 commandments of Jewish law. Help us to remain faithful to You, Father, not putting anyone or anything above You. Help us to love You with all our heart, with all our mind and with all our soul. Amen.
