Day 196: 2nd Chronicles 28 and 2nd Kings 16-17

Today on Meditating the Word, Jotham's and Ahaz's reigns over Judah, Syria and Israel defeat Judah, the Prophet Oded intercedes, Ahaz's apostasy and death, Hoshea reigns in Israel, the exile and Assyria's resettlement of Samaria.

This is Day 196. Today we are reading 2nd Chronicles 28 and 2nd Kings 16 and 17.

Father God, We are reminded that Jesus said we couldn't serve two masters. The children of Israel tried to serve both You and other gods, and they destroyed themselves in the process. We may not make molten calves or carved idols, but we still sometimes get lost in the worship -- or reliance on and trust in -- things we build with our own hands instead of relying and trusting in You alone. Help us, Father, to serve You with all of our hearts, all of our minds, all of our soul and all of our strength -- holding nothing back.  Amen
