Day 174: 1st Kings 12-14

Today on Meditating the Word, the Kingdom of Israel is divided; Jeroboam reigns over Israel and Rehoboam reigns over Judah. Jeroboam makes golden calves; the strange tale of a man of God from Judah; and Jeroboam dies. 

This is Day 174. Today we are reading 1st Kings 12-14

Father God, From Rehoboam, we learn the importance of seeking -- and heeding -- wise counsel, and not just looking for someone to agree with us. And from Jeroboam, we learn the importance of staying true to you. You have provided us with the best possible counselor -- Holy Spirit. Help us to always be attentive and follow his voice.  Amen
