Today on Meditating the Word, David Mourns Saul and Jonathan; David is Anointed King of Judah, Ishbosheth is Made King of Israel, the Battle of Gibeon; Abner Defects to David but is killed by Joab; and Isbosheth is Assassinated

This is Day 111. Today we are reading 2nd Samuel 1-4

Father God, the respect David had for Saul and his family, the respect he had for the anointing... those around him thought they were doing him favors by killing those they considered his enemies. But David had no hatred toward them. He showed mercy even to those who showed him no mercy. What a gift you have given us in the account of David's life. May we be as forgiving and merciful, as you have forgiven us. Amen.
